Before she was found dead in the swimming pool of her home, the life of Samira Mbotizafy Frasch was the definition of flashy.
From Madagascar, Samira was working as a fashion model in Paris when she met her husband Adam Frasch, a successful American podiatrist, in 2006. Soon, the couple moved to Florida and lived in Adam’s home. in a gated community called the Golden Eagle.
“She fell in love with him at first sight,” Samira’s friend Annabelle Dias said on “In Ice Cold Blood,” which airs every Monday at 8/7c on Oxygen. “She really thought Adam was the man of her dreams.”
The couple married in 2009 and soon had two daughters, Hyrah and Skynaah. Adam reportedly broke up with Samira, giving her first-class airline tickets to exotic places and shopping sprees at high-end retailers.
“The lifestyle Samira lived in Tallahassee when she returned to the States with Adam was extremely impressive,” said Jason Newlin, a state attorney investigator in Leon County, Florida.

But on February 22, 2014, the couple’s seemingly dream lifestyle crashed: Samira was found dead under her swimming pool by a handyman working at the property. The autopsy report concluded that Samira died as a result of drowning and blunt force trauma to the head, and her death was ruled a homicide, the Pensacola News Journal reported.
Suspicion first fell on the handyman, Gerald Gardener, who refused to help Samira get out of the pool because he was afraid of getting his DNA on its body.
“You are kind, why? help him. Try something. We all do. It’s pretty clear that he’s not an outgoing person, he doesn’t like to open up and talk, ”Newlin said.
But despite his peculiarities, the authorities have a hint that Gardener is not their man. Moreover, he was able to clarify some of the Frasch’s personal problems that could have been the motive for the murder, and suspicion quickly shifted to Adam.
Prior to Samira’s murder, Adam had been in many outside relationships, and the couple was in the process of divorce. Samira was granted temporary custody of the children, who should have been in her care at the time her body was found.

Adam, with a noticeable scratch under one eye, told investigators at the Panama City police station that he and Samira were in the process of reconciling their troubled relationship. She said that the night before she died, Samira was angry about Adam’s activities and she ran out of two bottles of champagne.
According to Adam, they went to bed around 4 a.m., and he left the house with their children that morning to give Samira a “mommy’s day off.” The timing and nature of Adam’s departure, however, raised an eyebrow.
“It’s pretty unusual that he would load the kids, packed the clothes and be in the car while leaving the neighborhood by 8 a.m.,” Cappelman said. “And under the circumstances he was not legally allowed to take the children anywhere.”
Adam was then arrested for interfering in the care of his children. He later posted a bond on the condition that he have no contact with his children, be unarmed, wear a GPS monitor, surrender his U.S. passport. and had no contact with attorneys associated with his wife, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.
While a witness at one point claimed to have seen a woman resembling Samira alive after Adam left their residence on the day of his murder, DNA and toxicology reports refuted Adam’s story.Investigators found Adam’s DNA under Samira’s nails, and found no alcohol in Samira’s system.
“While lying about [Samira] drinking alcohol certainly doesn’t prove he was a murderer, it’s suspicious,” Cappelman said.
Prosecutors got a bit of a lucky break, however, when they revealed that Adam was being investigated for “millions and millions of dollars,” Medicare fraud, according to Newlin.
The feds executed a search warrant of his office in Thomasville, Georgia, and found guns. Authorities were able to revoke Adam’s bond and re -arrest him for violating the terms of his release. Upon Adam’s incarceration, investigators continued their investigation into the murder.
Meanwhile, Adam befriends a career jailhouse snitch named Dale Folsom at the Leon County jail and starts talking about the case – a lot. At one point, Adam clearly discusses the night of the murder in vivid detail: He says that Samira came home and confronted him about some of the other women he saw.
The fight became physical, he said, and before he could process what was happening, his wife was not responding to the floor. Adam then tells Folsom that he put him in the pool in an attempt to remove his DNA from his body, despite the fact that he is not dead.
“He was a doctor, so he knew he didn’t die; he knew he should call and ask for help. But he didn’t do that – instead he chose to finish the job and try to make it look like an accident and try to cover up, ”Cappelman said.
Adam was eventually charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, the Tallahassee Democrat reported. He sat in prison for two years before entering trial.
