Alveda Celeste King (born January 22, 1951) [citation needed] is an American activist, author, and former state representative for the 28th District in the Georgia House of Representatives.

King said his mother wanted him to have an abortion so he could continue in college, but his grandfather was able to persuade him to keep his son. [3] When he was 12, his father became a campaign leader in Birmingham while serving as pastor at First Baptist Church of Ensley in Ensley near Birmingham, Alabama. Later that same year, King’s home was bombed by opponents of the civil rights movement.

Coretta Scott King did not endorse her niece. Young, who resigned to serve as U.S. ambassador. at the UN, and Williams approached King and asked him to end his campaign for the seat so he could devote more time to his family.
