Wanda Elizabeth “Beth” Moore (born Wanda Elizabeth Green, June 16, 1957) is an American Anglican evangelist, author, and Bible teacher. She is the President of Living Proof Ministries, a Christian organization she founded in 1994 to teach women to know and love Jesus through the study of the Scriptures. Living Proof Ministries is based in Houston, Texas. [1] Moore is one of the most well-known American evangelical women, speaking at arena events and selling millions of books. [2]
The ministry, in conjunction with LifeWay Christian Resources, conducts more than a dozen conferences, known as “Living Proof Live”, throughout the United States annually. Travis Cottrell led the worship conferences. From 2007 to 2011, Moore, Kay Arthur, and Priscilla Shirer [3] collaborated on another LifeWay weekend conference, “Deeper Still: The Event”. Moore also teaches through her radio show, Living Proof with Beth Moore, and on her YouTube channel of the same name. He had no connection with Baptist theologian and preacher Russell Moore.

Moore committed his life to vocational Christian ministry at the age of 18. When he volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, Moore realized he needed to learn more about the Bible. By the mid -1990s, the class had reached 2,000 women, and she spoke in churches throughout South Texas. Although there was still no formal theological education, LifeWay Christian Resources publisher Broadman & Holman (later B&H) began publishing his Bible studies in 1994, leading to a national speaking ministry for Moore. . Moore’s adoption of an egalitarian theological position led to his departure from the Southern Baptist Convention, taking a complementarian approach. In March 2021, Moore announced that, although still a Baptist, he was no longer identified as a Southern Baptist and had ended his publishing relationship with LifeWay Christian. [23] Moore was later reported to have joined the Anglican Church in North America. [24]

Moore did not identify himself as a liberal, or feminist. [15] He was pro-life. [23] In August 2020, Moore said, “white supremacy has clung tightly to most of the church for a long time because racists have overtaken anti-racists.” [2]
Moore criticized parts of the Evangelical movement that dismissed the moral flaws of politicians accused of sexual abuse, most notably Donald Trump and Roy Moore (unrelated). [25] [26] Moore said in an interview in March 2021 that after the October 2016 release of the Access Hollywood tape, in which he heard Donald Trump making offensive comments about women, he was surprised that fellow evangelists rallied around Trump, and can’t understand how he became “the banner, the poster child for the great white hope of evangelicalism, the salvation of the church in America.” In December 2020, he tweeted, “I am 63 1/2 years old and I have never seen anything in the United States of America that I find more shocking and dangerous to the saints of God than Trumpism. This Christian nationalism is not to God. Get out of here. “[27]
Sexual abuse [edit]
Moore was a victim of sexual abuse as a child within his home. [28] After the #MeToo movement and a report in his local newspaper describing 700 cases of sexual abuse within the Southern Baptist Convention, he became an advocate for survivors of sexual abuse: sharing his story, listening to other survivors, and urging the church to investigate crimes and cover -ups. [29] [8] He called on male church leaders for protesting against women and rebutting statements of sexual abuse. [30]
