Casanova Nurse Biography
Casanova Nurse is licensed by the American Meteorological Society as a Certified Broadcasting Meteorologist. It is the first in the Tallahassee market to achieve this higher standard of AMS valation. His skills aren’t limited to tropical climates though — he’s also a weather forecaster for a Minnesota radio station.

More recently, Casanova received high marks for Best Weathercast from the Flora Associated Press Broadcasters ratings in 2013 and 2014, and first place honors in 2012 and 2014 for producing and co-anchoring the annual prep program series “Hurricane” in preparation for the 2014 tropical season .
Active outse of the Weather Center, Cas is heavily involved in the community through educational and children’s initiatives. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Tallahassee dads foster, adopt three | Pre Month
Casanova and Daniel Nurse remember when they first saw little Ava Rose, two days old. Born seven weeks premature, she fits nicely in the hand of the 6ft 3in Casanova.
His husband Daniel sa it was love at first sight.
On a recent afternoon at the Pedrick Pond family home, a 5-year-old Ava Rose sat in a frilly dress, piling blocks of magnets together in the shape of a little rainbow castle. Her brothers Cameron and Neijal, both 8, sat nearby in a corner of the siblings’ colorful playroom, playing games.

Casanova is a local celebrity, chief meteorologist at WTXL ABC 27. Daniel works as an accountant for the state. The couple wed in their backyard on Valentine’s Day in 2015, just weeks after Flora’s gay marriage ban was lifted.
But even before that, they paved the way for other same-sex couples like her who wanted to become parents.
One Christmas, the nurses watched A Home for the Holays, a show about children on welfare who needed a loving home. “We watched it together and I cried,” Daniel sa.
They began fostering several children over the years. When gay couples were legalized to adopt in Flora nine years ago, the fathers adopted 2-year-old Cameron, whom they had been raising since he was 10 months old. Family and friends celebrated in a barn in Monticello.
“We were the first in North Flora,” Daniel sa.
At the hearing, when they testified about adopting little Cameron, even the judge asked if it was legal, he recalled. “It was such a new concept and it was on the cusp of the evolution of reality — where we are now.”
Then along came Neijal, who the couple also adopted on his second birthday, throwing a Thomas the Train themed party.
He and his brother Cameron, only a few months apart, became inseparable. When the family moved into their current home, the boys claimed they still wanted to share a Sperman-themed room together.
When Ava Rose arrived, the boys loved holding and feeding their newborn sister.
Casanova and Daniel met 14 years ago at a men’s dinner club meeting at an Italian restaurant on Monroe Street. Casanova, charismatic but calm, was a little nervous. But a few days later, the two met again on a date – and it clicked. Daniel was charmed by Casanova’s gentleness and pretty demeanor; Casanova by Daniel’s Spending Heart.
As a father to three young children, as well as a 15-year-old godson Kyron, who spends the summers with them, there’s always a ballet concert, a baseball game, or a friend’s birthday party. During the holays, the family camps in their RV at Jellystone Park, where they lounge by a lazy river and the ks bounce on bouncy castles.
“Seeing that there was a need and apparently not enough people to fill that need — that was certainly one of the driving factors [for the adoption],” Casanova sa. “To be able to change a little k’s life.. their future can be brighter.”
The ks’ crafts are linked to a bulletin board in the kitchen: Cameron’s colored pencil astronaut, Neijal’s purple-blue canvas painting, and Ava Rose’s pink watercolor handprints.
A photo of her hangs framed by popsicle sticks. It reads the prompt, “My dad is my superhero because.. they make me happy when I go to sleep and have nightmares.”
The way to the father was not free of hurdles. A lawyer once refused to work with the couple because he disagreed with their life and the then-new law, Daniel sa. Casanova’s father refused to meet Daniel when they met.
When we started taking children in, many of their concerns, many of their myths were debunked,” sa Casanova. His father started calling Daniel “Dan”. He was driving from Tampa to Cameron’s adoption party.
“It gave me relief,” Casanova sa, especially since his father died three months later. “It reaffirmed for me that even people who may today still believe that the way we live our lives is wrong.. once you have that personal experience you see that someone who is gay doesn’t strange thing is.”
