Farewell To CBS Weather Anchor Dave Bender

Sacramento’s CBS 13 bids farewell to Weather Anchor/reporter Dave Bender after 25 years with the station. Known for accurate 3D augmented reality graphics, Bender also created the sophisticated CBS13 weather app Digi-Cast.
Anyone who crosses career paths with Bender knows his weather forecasts are top-notch. In addition, Bender’s sense of humor not only blew up the moderators on the moderator’s desk, but the entire editorial team. Especially with his 11pm foosball stories called Bender Ender.
Funny, smart, talented, Bender said he’s decided to leave the network now to celebrate the holidays. “This is a time to recharge my battery,” Bender said. “You never know where I’ll turn up again.”
In his on-air farewell on November 19, 2021, Bender thanked his viewers and weather observers extensively. “How the time flies?” Bender said. “In a blink of an eye, I’ve been on CBS13 for 25 years.” He said he had a great time and will miss his viewers and colleagues at the anchor desk.
Bender is an Emmy® winner and television veteran who has worked in other markets and has guest-starred on The Late Show with David Letterman. He also pitched in at Good Morning America for a week to do the weather.

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – We say “thank you” to a longtime colleague of ours. Weather presenter Dave Bender has just celebrated his 25th anniversary here on CBS13 and is now taking a break to enjoy the holidays before discovering what his next chapter has in store.
From storm coverage to everyday weather, Dave spent a quarter of a century telling you what it would be like outside.
Dave also shared with you his favorite ways to save money on Save With Dave.
Every holiday season, he showed the most amazing light shows during the “12 Daves of Christmas” and ended the 11pm. News every night with his signature sense of humor.
Now Dave has one last message for you:
“Wow! How time flies? 25 years on CBS13 like a blink of an eye. But I want to thank CBS13 for giving me the opportunity to bring you the weather every day for the past 25 years. It’s been a blast.
“First and foremost, I would also like to thank all the spectators. My career couldn’t have been so great if I didn’t have great viewers like you every day. Thanks also to all weather observers. Some of these people have been with CBS13 longer than I have, so thanks for contributing to my weather forecast every day. And of course we can’t forget all the people with all the Christmas lights, 12 Daves from Christmas staff, folks, my friends. Thank you for making this part of my trip great too and of course to all the anchors out there who I have been with at the anchor desk and who made my time at this anchor desk truly amazing.
“So don’t call it retirement. Maybe call it a battery charge. You just never know where I might end up again. Thank you CBS13 for an amazing 25 years.”
