Ed Lover and Dr. Dre – Ed Lover Dr. Dre

Both Ed Lover and Dr. Dre are television and radio personalities, rap singers and actors. Despite initially receiving national recognition as the host of Yo! MTV Raps, the hip hop program from the popular television network, Ed Lover and Dr. The Dre have since proven to be a surprisingly versatile show business team. They smashed New York City’s morning radio contest with their show on WQHT/Hot 97, starred in a comedy film and released a rap album, all within a few short years. And they haven’t shown any signs of slowing down.

Dre and Lover have also distinguished themselves by maintaining their credibility in the rap world — and purposefully defending the music against its critics — without sacrificing their roaring sense of humor. “Whatever we want to do, we want to do it well,” sa Ed Lover Karen Harris of Dance Music Authority (DMA) magazine. “We want to get into [show business] from all angles and become all-around entertainers. Making people laugh is serious business, but it’s our business and we love it.”

The burly Dre — who’s often confused with the West Coast rapper-producer of the same name — and his tall, slightly slimmer partner were no newcomers to the rap scene when they arrived at MTV. Born Andre Brown in Long Island, New York, Dre had an early interest in hip-hop. In 1977 at Westbury High School, he co-founded a collective called Original Concept devoted to emerging music. He then attended Adelphi University and hosted The Operating Room, one of the country’s first all-rap programs, on the school’s radio station, WBAU. There, among many other young MCs and DJs, he met Chuck D, who later became known around the world as the booming voice of the pioneering group Public Enemy.

Ed Lover Dance – Ed Lover Dance Song

Ed created his own dance called Ed Lover Dance which became quite popular in the 1990s. Previously, The Ed Lover Dance was performed to the track “The 900 Number” by The 45 King.

Ed Lover and Fab 5

Both Ed Lover and Fab 5 Freddie may have been instrumental in introducing new hip hop acts to the world, but what you might not know is that Yo! also broadened their horizons and made them realize that great music was coming from places other than New York.

“If you’ve lived in Hollis and been a fan of LL, chances are you’ve never heard of Too Short, N.W.A, Tone Loc, or anyone from any other area. You’ve never heard of Neneh Cherry coming from England with that “Buffalo Stance”. It was all strange. They dn’t know Too Short sold records in Oakland until Yo! MTV Raps. It gave everyone a better view of what was going on across the country,” says Lover.

For Fab 5, it took him a trip down south to realize that hip-hop was alive and well across the country, albeit in a different way than he was used to.

As the concert begins, both he and Fab 5 Freddie agree that they cannot escape the success of the show that launched their careers. 30 years later, people will still come up to them and talk about what they d on the MTV music video show that changed their lives. Though they have other things ahead of them in their lives — Freddie has been heavily involved in the art scene while Ed Lover hosts 104.3 Jams’ morning show in Chicago — they’re proud to be a part of something that changed the world.

Ed Lover Net Worth

Lover has an approximate net worth of $5 million as of 2019. He has earned his lucrative income through his career as a rapper, actor, musician, radio personality and former MTV VJ.

However, this proves problematic when they have to live through an angry sergeant (Denis Leary), a cranky analyst (Rozwill Young) and many reluctant street capers (Guru, Ice-T) to get the data they need. Despite the fact that there are no clear signs to be found, unusual events are taking place when the police found out that Demetrius’ organization was apparently looking for oil instead of looking for a property.

Because their bosses don’t trust Ed and Dre’s story and put themselves in a difficult situation, they are suspended. Anyway, they get a clue to a storage room where they discover many weapons. You have enough evence to catch Demetrius, but Demetrius dn’t murder Nick. It was revealed that Nick’s companion, Lionel, was working for Demetrius and killed him.

Ed and Dre have renewed their employment opportunities again, but they have chosen to quit, expressing that it is unreasonably cruel to them. Dr. Dre’s Ex-Wife Scores Massive Divorce Settlement

One of Hollywood’s messiest divorces will also be one of the most expensive in the business.

dr Dre and his ex-wife, Nicole Young, reached a massive divorce settlement on Tuesday that will see Young exit their 24-year marriage with $100 million. Sources familiar with the settlement tell Rolling Stone that the two sides have finalized the terms of their split, with the Death Row Records co-founder giving up more than a fifth of his fortune and roughly half of his cash and cash equivalents. Young must move out of her Malibu beach house by the end of the month, but is keeping a Rolls Royce, Range Rover, Escalade sedan and Spyder motorcycle, along with all of her jewelry.

The $100 million settlement concludes 18 months of divorce proceedings that were fought in the press after Young’s filing in June 2020 and Dre’s attempt to enforce a 1996 prenup he had signed under “duress.” (The couple share two adult children, Truice and Truly.)

Over the past year and a half, the battle between the 56-year-old rapper and producer – whose real name is Andre Romelle Young – and Nicole Young, 51, has aired plenty of dirty laundry. Nicole claimed in court filings that Dre kicked her out of her home in early April and “planned to secretly transfer her assets to deny Nicole her equal share.” She also accused him of multiple counts of domestic violence, including pointing a gun to his head twice and beating him in the head and face, all of which he denied. In April, Nicole won her bid to force three of Dre’s alleged lovers – Jillian Speer, Kili Anderson and Crystal Rogers – to testify in the case. Likewise, in September, Dre filed a separate lawsuit alleging that Nicole stole $353,571.85 from the coffers of Recording One’s Sherman Oaks studio.

Legal observers say the turning point in the case came earlier this year when Spector successfully pushed to have Laura Wasser, another superstar divorce lawyer, removed from Dre’s team. Spector and Wasser have had feuds in the past, most notably over Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s divorce (Wasser represented Depp while Spector was on Heard’s team). Likewise, Howard King, who had represented the couple in previous legal matters, was barred from representing Dre in the divorce. As a result, Anne Kiley, whose client includes Brad Pitt, took over as head of Dre’s legal team.

With Wasser and King out, Nicole added more firepower to her legal team, bringing in attorneys Lisa Helfend Meyer and Bryan Freedman to unravel intellectual property issues given the record producer’s vast music library created during the couple’s union. According to Tuesday’s settlement, Wasser and King agreed to pay Nicole $50,000 each to settle any claims between them. Both Dre and Nicole have agreed not to contest the agreement. A source close to the rapper told Rolling Stone he was delighted with the settlement.

Though Dre is often credited as hip-hop’s first billionaire, divorce papers filed Nov. 18 in L.A. Superior Court put his net worth at $458.2 million, with $182.7 million of that in cash, $6.3 million in stock and $269.2 million in property and assets, including intellectual property. Dre was believed to be worth significantly more after Apple bought its Beats Electronics for $3 billion in 2014; His stake was reportedly worth $800 million at the time. The reason for the discrepancy is unclear.

American rapper

musical artist

James Roberts (born February 12, 1963), better known as Ed Lover, is an American rapper, actor, musician, radio host, and former MTV VJ. He hosted “The Ed Lover Show” on SiriusXM’s old-school hip-hop station BackSpin. Beginning April 12, 2018, he will host the morning show at classic hip-hop “104.3 Jams” WBMX in Chicago.[1]

He is also widely known for being the first to announce the unsolved case of American rapper Tupac Shakur’s death at a Nas concert in 1996.

Biography[edit]

History before MTV[ edit ]

Roberts was born in Brooklyn, New York. Before finding fame on MTV, he was part of an eccentric and intentionally enigmatic hip-hop collective called No Face, primarily with fellow members Kevon Shah and Mark “Mark Sexx” Skeete, who served as main producer. No Face debuted on Island Records’ club music label Great Jones in 1989 with the only known recording for the label, “Hump Music” – a sexually explicit underground parody of The Jungle Brothers’ hip house classic “I’ll House You.” from 1988.” No Face would record for another five years, but only released one album, Wake Your Daughter Up, in 1990 on his own No Face label, operated as an imprint of Def Jam Recordings’ Rush Associated Labels division.

Although Ed Lover was clearly recognizable in parts of the album, his name was not mentioned on the album and he was not featured on any album or single cover during this period, making Ed Lover the “No Face” part of the group. The main logo featured two heads with the word “face” in graffiti style at the bottom of the right face, while the official label logo featured three heads with the word “face” in a more readable font.

“Wake Your Daughter Up” spawned two singles – “Fake-Hair-Wearin’ Bitch,” an underground cult classic that sampled The Gap Band’s “You Dropped a Bomb on Me” and featured the 2 Live Crew, and “Half ‘, an R&B-styled divorce story starring up-and-coming hardcore female hip-hop duo BWP (Bytches with Problems), discovered by No Face and recorded for the label, to a slightly bigger hit for the label than the group No Face . Ed Lover can be seen in the video for Half, a regular on Yo! MTV Raps during his tenure as co-host.

For reasons unknown, other than possibly to avoid conflict with his duties at MTV, Ed Lover left No Face shortly after his stint at RAL. His swan song for the group and label was his cameo appearance with partner Doctor Dré in BWP’s video for third single “Wanted” from BWP’s only album The Bytches in 1991.

Yo! MTV Raps [ edit ]

Roberts is best known for shouting “Come on son!” and co-host of the weekday version of MTV’s hip-hop music special Yo! MTV Raps Today with partner André “Doctor Dré” Brown.
