“He wanted me to dress like a Girl Scout”
“He wanted me to put my hair up in pigtails and dress like a Girl Scout,” Pace said, according to the New York Times. Kelly frequently requested the outfit before photographing their sexual sessions with a tripod-mounted camera, she claimed. She testified that the two once had a minor argument over basketball. Kelly was a Chicago Bulls fan, but she disagreed, stating that she preferred the Cleveland Cavaliers. “He responded by hitting me,” she said, “and telling me I didn’t respect him.”

An attorney for R. Kelly spent Thursday morning finding contradictions in the testimony of one of the singer’s accusers, trying to paint the woman as a “groupie” who didn’t dismiss Kelly’s advances.
Witness Jerhonda Pace testified Wednesday that Kelly first invited her to his home in May 2009, when she was 16, stripping for him.
Kelly’s attorney, Devereaux Leon Cannick, returned to this story during Thursday’s cross-examination.
“Did you say to him when he asked you, no?” He asked the 28-year-old.
Pace replied that she hadn’t.
“So you just undressed?” the lawyer followed.
“Yes,” she said.
Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn have accused Kelly of sexually abusing Pace and more than 20 other girls, boys and women over a 30-year period, six of whom were identified as victims in indictment documents. Prosecutors allege Kelly used his fame and following to recruit victims he would later sexually, physically and psychologically abuse.
In the defense team’s opening statement on Wednesday, attorney Nicole Blank Becker repeatedly urged jurors to listen carefully to Pace’s testimony and warned that her story would change.
But Pace remained specific and detailed on the booth, even when faced with pointed questions about a same-sex relationship she had with another R. Kelly fan when she was 16.
Pace testified that she met Kelly – real name Robert Sylvester Kelly – during his child pornography trial in 2008. Pace, then 14, was a member of an R. Kelly fan forum on MySpace and appeared in court to support the singer’s trial.
During the more than two-hour cross-examination, Cannick repeatedly asked Pace if she identified as R. Kelly’s “groupie.” She said she didn’t.
“You actually followed him, didn’t you?” he asked, to which Pace denied.
Kelly’s attorney appeared to be struggling with birthday math
Cannick spent a significant portion of his cross-examination asking Pace about her age when she first met Kelly – when she was 14 – and when she said she started having sex with Kelly.
Pace admitted that she initially told the singer she was 19, but then revealed to him that she was 16 after they had oral sex for the first time because she wasn’t comfortable with the lie.
Cannick struggled with birthday math in an apparent attempt to catch the accuser in a lie. He wondered how Pace could have been 14 on April 1, 2008 when she first met Kelly and 16 in May 2009.
“You advanced two years in a year and a month?” he asked.
Pace told the jury that her birthday was April 19th.

Pace shared additional details about how Kelly controlled her life during Cannick’s cross-examination, including the fact that she had to ask Kelly for permission if she wanted to use the bathroom at his home in Olympia Fields, Illinois.
Pace testified that if she was on Kelly’s “good side,” he would give her permission within five minutes. When she was on his “bad side,” she said, he would sometimes not allow her to use the restroom for up to three days.
“You haven’t relieved yourself for three days if he hasn’t given you permission?” asked Cannik.
“I did,” Pace testified.
On Wednesday, prosecutors told jurors that Kelly’s accusers were frequently denied access to the restroom and forced to urinate into cups.
Prosecutors are expected to bring a diversionary interview with Pace before the jury later Thursday afternoon.
