Doyle founded Together Rising, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with an effective date of May 25, 2012.[32] As of December 2020, Together Rising has raised over $25 million for those in need.[33] Together Rising exists to “transform collective heartbreak into effective action.” Most of Together Rising’s funds are raised through time-limited crowdsourced fundraisers, where donors are limited to a maximum of $25 to meet a specific need.[34] This strategy seeks to build community, enable people from all income groups to give (“democratize giving”), and overcome indecisiveness about how much to give.[35]
In 2020, Doyle became co-owner of Angel City Football Club in Los Angeles, California.

Doyle was married to former model Craig Melton from 2002 to 2016;[37] and they have three children. Doyle and her family moved from Centreville, Virginia to Naples, Florida.[38]

If you’re not already a loyal reader of the Momastery blog or haven’t read Carry on, Warrior, both of which generate hilarious, inspirational, poignant and all-encompassing, lovingly wrapped, relevant messages for women – women just like you and me – I thought , I would tell you about the next best thing: meeting the fabulous Glennon Doyle Melton in person.
(Excuse my beautiful hands – lots of work in the studio preparing for this week’s Philly event = ugly hands – or maybe I should call them brutal?)

My sister has been scouring the interwebs for tickets so we can visit her, been able to meet her for about six months. It all started when I sent her a copy of Glennon’s book, as I did for 5 of my friends during Women’s History Month last year. She’s a fan now. She calls herself my “emergency contact,” as Glennon often refers to her own sister (who actually has a name—Hi, Amanda!) because that’s how she put her on her phone and because she loves her in a few moments first calls crisis. We can relate to that, my own sister and I.

I could have visited Glennon in February when my friend Cari sent me 400 text messages (will come back to this in Part II–:) to tell me I’d better get my tickets before they sell out, but I did missed the date. In February, however, I was still in the throes of working a full-time job, the long commute, driving the kids around, preparing my eldest for college, and building the business in its first season. I see now that it wasn’t the right time. I was still in survival mode.
This November I’m very busy and insanely exhausted, but in a very different, utterly fulfilling way. For example, driving to Wayne on a Sunday knowing I had a full week ahead of me didn’t leave me feeling scared; rather, it left me with a feeling of absolute gratitude that I can now do these things – without fearing Mondays anymore. Adding these things to my schedule brings joy to my life. November is indeed full of such things. The work has created new friendships and amazing opportunities. So much for the inevitable exhaustion? I can now work in sprints, work the way I want and know that recovery is coming soon.

We waited while listening to music and chatting to other ladies who were all there to hear something that would resonate. We all want the same thing, don’t we? We just want to know that we are not alone in this, that we are not walking this path alone. That’s what it was really about, that’s what it’s about for her. She’s letting you know she’s a real person who’s been through some real things in her life, but she always gets back up — and then she shares, completely uninhibited. That’s what makes Glennon shine.
The song I sat and thought about while we waited for her was John Mayer’s Say What You Need To Say. So much of what becomes a problem for us as women is because we keep things closed on the inside. I can personally attest to the power of simply using our voices to express and release that the crap that builds up all these toxic things like resentment leads to failed relationships and causes us to hide in unhealthy patterns . When I started using my own voice everything changed in every area of my life.
Once Glennon came out and spoke to us, shoes off, cross-legged in a comfortable chair, and she made the whole church laugh and cry for an hour and a half. It never stopped, that palpable energy that permeated the room.
