Bogey Inn Bar & Grill in Dublin to close at end of month after owner’s sudden death

The Bogey Inn Bar & Grill, a longstanding Dublin establishment, will close its doors towards the end of the month, the restaurant’s management and staff announced on Tuesday.

In a letter posted to Facebook on Tuesday night, staff at The Bogey revealed that Saturday February 26 will be the last day the upscale sports bar will be open.

The news comes just over a week after Jeff Parenteau, owner of the Bogey, died on Jan. 31. He was 45 years old.

In the Facebook letter, Bogey employees said that Parenteau reportedly died after a “tragic accident.”

“Due to this extremely unfortunate and devastating circumstance, along with many other obstacles during COVID, it has become impossible for us to continue the business at the level of excellence that we are known for and that our owner would have liked to have continued,” according to the letter . “Thank you for your support and patronage throughout our many years of business.”

Who Was Jeff Parenteau?

Parenteau, a graduate of Dublin Coffman High School, and his then-wife Tressa took over Bogey in 2011 and remodeled the restaurant before hosting a grand reopening to mark the famous Memorial Tournament, according to previous Dispatch reporting. The party runs from June 1st to 4th and will feature music, drinks and food trucks during the PGA Tour’s return to Dublin. The Memorial Tournament days at Muirfield Village Golf Club are June 2-5.
