Pollak was supported by the Chicago Tea Party and self-identified as a Tea Party Republican.[12]

He lost and received 31.1% of the vote against Shakovsy’s 66.3%.

After losing the election, Pollak was asked by Andrew Breitbart to become in-house counsel at Breitbart News, and Pollak moved to California. He later became the site’s editor-in-chief.[2][13]

After Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields claimed she had been assaulted by Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, leaked internal memos showed that Pollak ordered staff to stop defending Fields.[14][15]
