On April 13, 2020, he announced his commitment to Arizona State through Michigan, USC, Missouri and UCLA. His brother Caleb had also served there for 1 year. As such, Christopher became Arizona State’s highest-ranking recruit in the modern recruiting era and the program’s first five-star recruit since James Harden in 2007.

On November 26, 2020, Christopher scored a career-high 28 points for Arizona State in an 83-74 loss to third-seeded Villanova.
