Horse racing enthusiast T.H. “Randy” Randall is a happily divorced man these days. On the day of the one-year divorce anniversary, he and his ex-wife Valerie go to the restaurant where they first fell in love. Randy was primarily responsible for breaking up their marriage by spending more time with his racehorse than Valerie. At the restaurant, while they are dancing, the police come and arrest Randy for not paying Valerie his alimony. Thrown in jail and desperately trying to get out, he starts planning how to get rid of his alimony altogether. He thinks the best solution is to get Valerie to marry someone else and tries to set her up with a friend of his, Paul Hunter. They both accompany Randy to a party at the estate of a wealthy eccentric company, Ethel Hilary, who has a special interest in collecting original characters for her circle of friends at the estate. Alongside Randy and his company and yoga master Dickie Brown comes a very handsome man named Freddie. Unknown to everyone, he soon becomes romantically interested in Valerie and tries to interest her in him by serenading her at night. She mistakes the singer for Randy, and he discovers that Valerie is more interested in Freddie than Paul, forcing her to go on a picnic with him instead of Freddie. Problems arise when Randy gets a flat tire and Valerie has to be escorted by Freddie anyway. She manages to get Freddie to propose to her at the picnic, but is devastated to learn that Freddie is already married. After Randy rediscovers his interest in Valerie, he becomes jealous of Freddie and wants to remarry his ex-wife. Randy is quick to propose to Valerie and she immediately accepts after long aching for him to utter those words. Unfortunately, Randy’s attorney, Bill Carter, inadvertently reveals that Randy had a “plan” to get rid of the child support payments, and Valerie reconsiders marrying him again. She decides to marry the boring Paul instead, upset by Randy’s overbearing behavior. The wedding is scheduled to take place at the estate, but on the wedding day, both Randy and Paul show up as grooms. During the ceremony, Randy’s own racehorse, Ajax, takes part in a radio-broadcast race. The ceremony is quite disrupted by the race, and just as Valerie has decided to marry Randy, the horse wins the race to both of them’s delight.[1]

Kristin Landen Davis (also credited as Kristin Lee Davis; born February 23, 1965)[1] is an American actress and producer. She is best known for playing Charlotte York Goldenblatt on the HBO romantic comedy series Sex and the City (1998–2004). She received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations in 2004 for her role as Charlotte, reprising the role in the films Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010) and the spin-off show Just Like That … (2021 – present).
Davis’ big break came in 1995 when he played the villainous Brooke Armstrong on the Fox primetime soap Melrose Place (1995-1996). Her films include The Shaggy Dog (2006), Deck the Halls (2006), Couples Retreat (2009), Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012) and Holiday in the Wild (2019). Davis was born in Boulder, Colorado.[2] She is an only child and her parents divorced when she was a baby.[2] She was adopted by her stepfather, then University of Colorado Boulder professor Keith Davis[3] after he married her mother, Dorothy, a data analyst at the university, in 1968.[4] She has three half-sisters from her father’s first marriage.[5] Early in her childhood, she and her parents moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where her father served as provost and taught psychology at the University of South Carolina.
Davis wanted to be an actress from the age of 9 when she was cast in the Workshop Theater production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Davis lived in South Carolina until graduating from A.C. in 1983. Flora High School did.[2] She then moved to New Jersey, where she attended Rutgers University. Davis graduated from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts with a BFA in acting in 1987.

After graduating in 1987, Davis moved to New York and waited tables before opening a yoga studio with a friend. In 1991 she starred in a few episodes of the daytime drama (soap opera) General Hospital. She later had guest roles in “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and ER and acted in TV movies. Her big break came in 1995 when she landed the role of villain Brooke Armstrong Campbell on the Fox nighttime soap Melrose Place. She left the show after a year when the producers decided to kill off the character. The following year, Davis guest-starred in two episodes of Seinfeld.

Davis appeared in the 2008 feature film Sex and the City, directed by executive producer Michael Patrick King.[12] The film was a box office success, grossing $415 million at the worldwide box office despite mixed reviews. It was Davis’ first film to reach #1 at the US box office. Davis reprized her role as Charlotte York for a second time in 2010’s Sex and the City 2, which grossed $290 million worldwide but was widely panned by critics. In 2015, Davis was recognized as the producer of the documentary Gardeners of Eden, which commented on the illegal ivory trade.[21] In 2019, Davis starred in and produced the romantic comedy-drama film Holiday in the Wild for Netflix.[22] The film was offered to her after producers noticed her philanthropic work with elephants.[22] She later starred in and produced the 2021 thriller Deadly Illusions, about a best-selling author (Davis) who suffers from writer’s block and hires an innocent young woman to babysit her twin children.[23]

Davis is a global ambassador for Oxfam and has been promoting their work since 2004, traveling to places like Haiti, Mozambique and South Africa.[29] In 2011, she gave a tearful interview to BBC News describing the situation in Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya, where she witnessed the effects of the drought.[30]

During her visit to Africa in 2009, Davis, a lifelong lover of elephants, discovered an abandoned baby elephant and arranged for it to be taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center. In recognition of the attention she has given to the plight of orphaned African elephants, Davis won the Humane Society’s 2010 Wyler Award, given to a celebrity or public figure who has made headlines on behalf of animals.[32] She is also patron of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, which works to protect elephants and other wildlife in Kenya.[33]
Davis has worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and is on its list of “high profile contributors.”[34] In 2015 she visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
