I turned to my mother and said, “You’ll never believe why John tried to reach me. He wants to introduce me to a guy – some football player in the Steelers. He’s supposed to be a Christian, but I would never date an athlete.
When they first met, Tony came to her family’s home. “I didn’t say much at first, but I felt pretty comfortable straight away. Tony was smart and respectful and he had beautiful brown eyes. He was not at all what I had imagined a professional football player and coach to be. He seemed like a nice person,” she said in her book.

Anthony Kevin Dungy, aka Tony Dungy, was born on October 6, 1955 and is a match scout and former American football safety and coach.
Tony was the head coach in the National Football League for 13 seasons, including with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts.
He propelled the Colts to triumph in Super Bowl XLI, becoming the first black head coach to win the Super Bowl.
