He previously began writing songs in his teens and by 2010 had taken the name Lukas Graham (Graham is his father’s mdle name).
He enlisted his childhood friends to form a band that now goes by his name. No matter how hard I tried, the other guys just aren’t lyricists. The band started out by signing with Copenhagen Records, a local Universal subsiary, who suggested they film some “non-corporate looking material” to post online to create a false underground buzz.
It was reported that the group was unsigned to post a video on YouTube, but he says it dn’t happen that way. However, the plan worked and their videos exploded across the internet and the group are now signed to Warner Bros. worldwe. The other members of the group are drummer Mark Falgren aka Lovestick and bassist Magnus Larsson aka Magnum.
The group has released three albums through 2018: Lukas Graham, Blue Album and 3 The Purple Album. The self-titled debut album was released in 2012 on the Copenhagen Records and Then We Take the World labels. He was fascinated by his father’s Irish roots, the country’s folk music and hip-hop – “Dr. Dres 2001 changed my life,” he said. He had a connection to rap lyrics when he was surrounded by a lot of crime and drugs in his neighborhood. After a six-month stay in Buenos Aires, Forchhammer returned to Christiania in 2010, where he joined the writing team Future Animals – Don Stefano and Morten Ristorp and formed the band Lukas Graham with friends from high school. He performed at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards on February 12, 2017.[5]
