General Hospital Alum Reveals What He Doesn’t Miss About the Show — Plus, Would He Return

General Hospital alum reveals what he *does* miss about the show – and would he return?

Let’s say while you’re here you might also like to look through the photo gallery below, a collection of General Hospital character images that we’d like back, like yesterday. (Spoiler alert: Cohen’s Griffin makes the cut.)

Apparently, Cohen (above in a 2008 scene with son Jensen Ackles, formerly Eric on Days of our Lives) is already feeling nostalgic. On September 10th, he released a video from the Supernatural set, noting, “This is the last time I’ll see the Impala [of the series] in Stage 1.” He also expressed his gratitude to #TeamSupernatural for giving him his I think he owed his entire career to. “Thank you,” he wrote, “for giving me a home, a family, and a bloody good time!”

However, Cohen has been terribly busy since he hung up Griffin’s stethoscope. He has spent many hours as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight (see above how he and son Macklin interview Elmo) and as a director, not only on the short film Mama Bear, starring his real-life wife Mandy Musgrave, but also on Supernatural ‘, the CW series on which he played a young version of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s John Winchester, Archangel Michael and, just for good measure, Lucifer! His episode at the helm, Gimme Shelter – one of the last seven of the long-running show ever! — will air in mid-October, he says.

However, there’s one thing he doesn’t miss during his 2016-2019 stint as Ava and Kiki’s former lover. “I don’t miss the chaos trying to make a serial television program,” he says, adding that he’s still open to visiting. “I’d love to stop by anytime Frank [Valentini, the series’ executive producer] calls, and he knows it.”

As much as we wish we still saw General Hospital’s Griffin in Port Charles, former portraitist Matt Cohen wishes he still saw his colleagues regularly. “I really miss the family of the cast and crew there,” he says in a new HollywoodHi Q&A session. “I love those [beeping] people!”

Her cast members are both retired, but that doesn’t mean Jane Elliot and Anthony Geary can’t briefly reappear as their legendary alter egos. Especially since Luke’s former flame Holly Sutton is being held captive and Luke’s son Ethan has just returned to find her. You can come in from anywhere your journey has taken you to join the quest.

2 / 14

13. Sebastian Roche made an instant impression as the villainous Mr. Craig. So much so that General Hospital brought him back under other aliases, including Jerry Jacks. This one stuck and gave him a family that included straight-laced Jasper “Jax” Jacks as his brother. The silver screen is primed for his return as it could turn out he’s in league with Cyrus Renault or holding Holly Sutton captive. Or he could return to lend a shoulder to his former flame, Alexis Davis, who is mourning the loss of Neil Byrne. They didn’t have the healthiest of relationships, but their chemistry was undeniable.

3 / 14

He was presumed dead after his plane crashed, but his body was never found. That means, in terms of the soap opera, that Drew Cain is most likely alive somewhere out there. He could show up at any time to disrupt the lives of his ex-wife Sam McCall, brother Jason Morgan, mother figure Monica Quartermaine and friend Franco Baldwin. All of these relationships deserve more exploration, as does the one he has as Scout’s father.

4 / 14

Ric Lansing has always been a great nemesis of his brother Sonny Corinthos. In rare cases they were even on the same page. Regardless, their long, tumultuous relationship always makes for a compelling story. Also, Ric has complicated stories with other core characters like Alexis, Sam, Elizabeth, Carly and Nina. Most importantly, he is Molly’s father and that relationship deserves to be explored.

5 / 14

When Kelly Thiebaud completed both Days of our Lives (where she played Zoey) and Station 19 (where she played Eva), there was nothing what stopped her from returning to General Hospitaland bringing her character back into the socially distanced orbit of loverboy Julian. “I guess if you want more from The Britch,” she tweeted after completing her final run at General Hospital, “you have to Hassing Frank Valentini [the series’ executive producer] and the writers – it’s up to them.” Fans must have been listening because not only has Britt returned, she has now also the hospital chief of staff.

6 / 14

When Carly Schroeder drove around town for a tribute to on-screen Grandpa Lee in 2017, we couldn’t figure out how General Hospital Port Charles< /em > alum leave. Serena is a legacy character played by an actress as bright as a sunrise, and she would fit beautifully into the soap’s younger set. Can anyone not see her hanging out with Michael and Willow, Chase and Sasha? Oh, lower your hand; We’re assuming you’re raising your arm because you’ve had some sort of muscle spasm!

7 / 14

Sonny’s former associate is a true Port Charles rarity: a criminal who actually went to prison and stayed there! But isn’t it about time – no, do that “past time”! – so that T.J.’s father is sprung? He wasn’t even the hired gunslinger whose bullet hit the character at number 7! And his release would greatly complicate the lives of baby mom Jordan and her husband Curtis — perhaps even to the point where he considered rekindling the flame that once flickered between him and Portia!

8 / 14

If we had a nickel every time we said General Hospital needed to bring Rebecca Budig back, we’d have about a dollar. What? There are many nickels in a dollar! And unlike some of those other returns we are dying for, we believe this one will eventually happen. It’s not like Hayden is leaving Violet forever with Dad Finn, is it? Also, we can’t be the only ones who think there’s a lot more gold to be mined from Hayden’s relationship with Sister Liz, right?

9 / 14

Despite how hot Ava made the former priest, he still challenged the bad girl to be the best version of herself she could. This makes it the ideal time to revisit Port Charles and his one-time lover. While Griffin shoved back in and made amends with Kevin, Griffin was able to encourage Ava to be honest not only with herself but also with her purposeful husband and admit to Nikolas that their marriage is about a lot more than money and power.

10 / 14

With Rena Sofer currently starring as Quinn in The Bold and the Beautiful, we couldn’t cast her back in the role of Ned’s ex-wife and Brook Lynn’s mother. But we always thought that Daytime Emmy winner Lesli Kay (formerly of Felicia on The Bold and the Beautiful) was perfect for the role she played in the mid-2000s. So why not bring her back to help Ned get her daughter in shape – and catch Scotty’s eye in the process?

11 / 14

Dead shit! Port Charles is far too full of zombies for us to believe that Robert’s lost love was lost forever. We felt like the sooner Emma Samms got her back – along with that trademark mischievous twinkle in her eye – the happier we (and Scorpio!) would be. And we were right. Although the actress was recovering herself – as you may have read, she was having a devilishly hellish year – she made a surprise appearance and revealed that Holly was being held captive.

12 / 14

William Lipton (Cameron) recently confessed that he hoped Jonathan Jackson would reprise the role for which he won five (!) Emmys. He’s not the only one. We’d also like the first (and youngest) cast member of the character to book a return trip to Port Charles, whether that’s messing up ex-wife Elizabeth’s new life with Franco, giving sister Lulu an extra layer of support, or challenging half Brother Nikolas to admit that his marriage to Ava is not just a marriage of convenience.

13 / 14

We know. Felicia chose Mac now and forever. We wouldn’t upset that apple cart for anything in the world. It is finished. Done. But that doesn’t mean the WSB agent shouldn’t revisit Port Charles. There he has roots. Story. Let him tell daughter Maxie what kind of guy she is falling in love with. Let him lend his special skills to Robert in a particularly difficult case. Let him… oh, now there’s an idea! Let him throw the kind of sparks with Anna that will make her reconsider her future with Finn.

The Riches of Matt Cohen

At the beginning of 2020, Matt Cohen’s net worth is estimated to be over $2 million which he has earned through a successful acting career. He has been appearing in films and TV shows since 2005 and has worked on several online programs and web series, as well as some directing work.

Early Life and Education

Raised in Miami in a Jewish family, Matt dreamed of becoming a sports star from a young age. In his youth he participated in various sports such as American football, played for his school’s team during high school and also ran on the track. He attended the American Heritage School and then enrolled at Florida State University in Tallahassee.

Cohen studied business administration but also had an interest in motocross – he loved racing cars, but it was more of a hobby.

Eventually, he decided to become an actor, although he still finished his studies. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles and began auditioning.

Acting beginnings

In 2005 he landed his first major role as one of the main characters of the television series “South of Nowhere”; The show follows the life of a family and the relationships between the younger members as well as their friends, and tackles issues of sexuality that caused some controversy at the time. It was then that he became close friends with co-stars Danso Gordon and Marisa Lauren, who played characters who were much younger, although they were all in their 20s.

He was given several other opportunities while working on the show, including his first film project called Boogeyman 2, which did not receive a theatrical release and instead went straight to video. He’s also had a few guest roles on shows like The OC and Medium.

Having gained a significant following through his work on South of Nowhere, he further built his reputation in 2008 when he was cast in Supernatural, playing a younger version of John Winchester, primarily played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan .

He then worked on the horror film Dark House, which marked a series of horror projects – the film starred him alongside Meghan Ory and is set in an old house that was once a children’s foster home where gruesome murders took place. He also starred in the horror film Chain Letter which, as the name suggests, tells the story of a chain letter that kills people if not passed on.

Continued acting projects

Over the next several years, Matt became consistently involved in television, guest-starring on NCIS: Los Angeles and Nite Tales: The Series.

He has also appeared in several independent films, including Sunnyview and Tai Chi & Qi Gong Basics. In 2011, he landed a recurring role on the fourth season of 90210, which was his first permanent role since his run with South of Nowhere ended. He was working on another teen series based on the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise, which tells the story of wealthy college students living in the lavish community of Beverly Hills, California.

Two years later, he starred in the psychological thriller Windsor Drive, Natalie Bible’s directorial debut.

The film follows Tommy O’Reilly’s character, an actor haunted by his past, with Matt playing a fictionalized version of himself. He then guest-starred on Criminal Minds, Melissa & Joey, and The Client List. In 2015, he landed another recurring role, which he cast in the second season of How to Get Away with Murder, in which he played the role of Levi Sutter.

General hospital and current projects

In 2016, Cohen landed another big role when he was cast as Griffin Munro on the long-running medical soap opera General Hospital, actually the second longest-running soap opera in the US after Guiding Light.

Originally set in a general hospital, it follows the story of people whose lives were intertwined with the place. The show later expanded to feature a stable cast of characters, mostly families connected to each other. His character, Griffin, is a former colleague of Lucas Jones, played by Ryan Carnes. He stayed with the show for three years when his character was dropped from the show as he left town to seek a more peaceful life.

Meanwhile, Matt had a recurring role in Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, a spin-off of Criminal Minds and the third in the franchise.

The show ran for two seasons but was ultimately canceled due to low ratings. In late 2019, it was reported that Matt would become a full-time host and correspondent for the popular weekend show Entertainment Tonight, which follows various Hollywood news and stories, from TV projects to new movies. They also show interviews and trailers.

Personal life

Matt befriended and later began a relationship with actress Mandy Musgrave, whom he met on the set of South of Nowhere and the two married in 2011. She subsequently became part of the web show Giltrash!. as Misty Monroe and also reprized her role in the film Girltrash: All Night Long. Like her husband, she has appeared as a guest on numerous programs. They have one child together and there have been no negative rumors about their relationship.
