Matthew DeLisi (born March 28, 2000), better known as Super or Supertf, is an American former Overwatch professional player. During his career he played in the Overwatch League (OWL) for San Francisco Shock and before founding OWL he played for Bird Noises, Hammer Esports and Luminosity Gaming Evil (LGE).
A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, DeLisi began his Overwatch career on Team Bird Noises before joining Hammer Esports in early 2017. Shortly thereafter, he became part of LGE after LGE acquired Hammer Esports. DeLisi signed with the San Francisco Shock in late 2017 ahead of the OWL’s inaugural season. Still underage at the start of the season, he made his pro debut in April 2018. While working with Shock, DeLisi became a two-time OWL All-Star, was named an OWL Role Star, was an OWL MVP finalist and won three midseason tournament titles and won two OWL Championships in 2019 and 2020 and won the Overwatch World Cup 2019 as part of Team USA. DeLisi announced his retirement on March 27, 2022.
DeLisi was one of the league’s most prominent players, appearing twice on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for OWL-related interviews.

DeLisi began his competitive athletic career playing Team Fortress 2 with Team Bird Noises. Shortly after joining, Bird Noises transitioned from Team Fortress 2 to Overwatch, with DeLisi primarily playing as the tank character Reinhardt. In January 2017, the entire roster of Bird Noises was signed by Hammer Esports, and six weeks later Hammer Esports was acquired by Luminosity Gaming Evil (LGE). From January through August, LGE won the CyberPowerPC 2017 Extreme Gaming Series Minor, finished runner-up in the Overwatch Carbon Series Major, and qualified for Overwatch Contenders (OWC) 2017 Season Zero. At OWC, the team failed in the quarterfinals game. In August 2017, LGE disbanded as it was expected that many of its players would sign with teams in the upcoming Overwatch League (OWL).[4]
San Francisco shock[edit]
On September 28, 2017, NRG Esports announced that DeLisi had been added to the roster of their San Francisco-based OWL team, later known as the San Francisco Shock.[5] At the time of signing, DeLisi was a minor and was ineligible to play as of March 2018.[6] DeLisi made his OWL debut on April 5, 2018 in a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Gladiators. The Shock had an improved win rate in the second half of the season as DeLisi and teammate Jay “sinatraa” Won became eligible to play, ending the second half of the season with an 11-9 record.
During the first three legs of the 2019 season, the most prominent team composition, known as the meta, in the OWL was to run three tanks and three supports. As a Reinhardt player, DeLisi excelled in this meta, having the fewest fatalities of any OWL player at various times during the season. As a team, the Shock won the Stage 2 playoffs and placed second in the Stage 1 and Stage 3 playoffs. In Phase 4 of the season, the league introduced an enforced 2-2-2 role lock, requiring teams to use a team composition of two damage, two tank, and two support characters. The new rule changed the team composition meta, resulting in DeLisi being on the bench for most of the remainder of the season.[4] Delisi appeared in the playoffs against the London Spitfire – a match they won and the Shock defeated the Vancouver Titans in the Grand Finals.[9]
DeLisi received numerous multiple awards for his performance throughout the 2019 season. He was named a 2019 All-Star,[10] received a Tank Role Star award, a roster voted on by OWL general managers, coaches, broadcast talent and the media,[11] and was a finalist for the 2019 Overwatch League Most Valuable Player Award.[12]
DeLisi’s playing time early in the 2020 season was limited as Orisa and Winston were the primary operated tanks in the league. The Shock reached the finals of the season’s first midseason tournament, the May Melee; The Shock defeated the Florida Mayhem in the final game, with DeLisi adopting an aggressive playstyle on multiple maps. In the Countdown Cup qualifier, the third midseason tournament of the season, Genji became a popular Damage character for team builds, and with the Shock left without a dedicated Genji player on their roster, DeLisi filled the position against the Boston Uprising out. 15] The Shock defeated the Philadelphia Fusion in the Countdown Cup Finals, with DeLisi coming on as Reinhardt, the team’s main tank, on points in the game. Despite his lack of playing time, DeLisi was selected to play in the North American All-Star Game for the second straight season.
By the playoffs, the meta had shifted to the tank hero Roadhog, who was a strong character, and DeLisi was reinstated on the starting roster, playing primarily as Roadhog during the playoffs. The Shock advanced into the Grand Finals bracket as North America’s top seed, and after defeating the Shanghai Dragons in the Upper Bracket Finals, they faced the Seoul Dynasty in the Grand Finals. In the finals against Dynasty, DeLisi played almost entirely as the roadhog as he and team defeated Seoul to win their second OWL Championship.
On March 27, 2022, a month before the start of the 2022 season, DeLisi announced his retirement from professional Overwatch, citing that preparing for the upcoming season “ruined him emotionally and mentally”.
National team career[ edit ]
DeLisi was selected to compete as a member of Team USA in the 2019 Overwatch World Cup (OWWC). Playing as Orisa throughout the World Cup, a hero he rarely faced in OWL, he and Team USA progressed through the group stage and met three-time reigning champions Team South Korea in the semifinals.[4] The team defeated Team South Korea 3-1 and advanced to the final against Team China. Team USA defeated Team China 3-0 in the finals to capture their first OWWC title. With the win, DeLisi became one of four players to win both OWL and OWWC titles.
