His father, Bill Grigsby, an American sportscaster and member of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, married Frances in 1949. In October 2003, he suffered his first heart attack, which caused him to miss several shows.
He was re-diagnosed with prostate cancer which lasted for a while, September 2010 until February 26, 2011 when he passed away at the age of 89.

He was also remembered for playing at the University of Kentucky and coaching basketball at McDowell High School. He received honors for his works;

Pete Grigsby is an American weather forecaster who has worked for KMBC 9 News since 1990. Grigsby is part of the KMBC 9 First Alert Weather team with 30 years of forecasting experience and has forecast Kansas City for the past 20 years. He has worked as a weather forecaster in Virginia, Indiana and Kentucky in the past.
