Several other well-followed TikTok accounts also shared the video, but for reference, the current oldest living person is Kane Tanaka, who is 119 years old and lives in Japan.
The real person in the video is Luang Pho Yai
The person who fell victim to the TikTok hoax may not be a 399-year-old woman, but she is there.
Briar Cares’ “eldest woman” is actually 109-year-old Luang Pho Yai, a monk.
Luang Pho Yai rose to prominence on TikTok after his granddaughter @auyary13 posted a picture of him updating his followers on his health.

Since being introduced to the world of TikTok by his granddaughter, Luang Pho Yai has been the target of hoaxes.

Though she didn’t quite reach her goal of 120 years, Kane Tanaka still lived long enough to become the world’s oldest person — a title she has held for the past three years, attributed to family, sleep, hope and faith .
Tanaka died last week at the age of 119, Japanese authorities said. Tanaka, who had been living in a nursing home in Fukuoka, died in a hospital on Tuesday.
According to Guinness World Records, Tanaka was born prematurely on January 2, 1903 — the same year the Wright brothers invented powered flight. She was the seventh child in her family.
At 19, she married Hideo Tanaka and helped run a family business selling sticky rice, udon and the Japanese dessert zenzai.
She had four children and adopted a fifth.
Tanaka loved chocolate and lemonade. During an awards ceremony in 2019 to celebrate being the oldest person alive, she was given a box of chocolates – which she immediately opened and began to devour.
Tanaka was tapped to carry the Olympic torch as part of the torch relay ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, but her relatives felt it was too risky amid COVID-19.
Earlier this month, Tanaka overtook Sarah Knauss of the United States to become the second longest living person in recorded history. Jeanne Louise Calment, a French woman who died in 1997, remains the longest living person at 122 years and 164 days.

Born in 1903 – the same year that the first powered flight took off and the first Tour de France was held – Kane lived through two world wars, saw 58 prime ministers and survived the 1918 Spanish flu.
She lived in a nursing home in Fukuoka Prefecture and sadly passed away in April 2022.
The Guinness Book of Records recognized Kane’s status in March 2019 when she was 116 years old.
She is the oldest known person in Japanese history to date – a record she achieved in September 2020 at the age of 117 years and 261 days.
