In February, Charlotte confronted and challenged NXT Women’s Champion Paige during an interview with Renee Young. After Rae’s rise to the mainline of WWE, Charlotte and Banks feuded with Bayley forming an alliance with Natalya, who defeated Charlotte by disqualification after Banks interfered on the March 27 episode of NXT.[31] On April 6 at WrestleMania XXX, she appeared alongside Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss in Triple H’s appearance in his match against Daniel Bryan. After the match, Charlotte leaves Banks to be attacked by Bayley, with Banks officially breaking up the BFFs in a backstage segment later that night.

On the July 24 episode of NXT, Charlotte successfully defended the women’s championship against Summer Rae.[39] Charlotte then stuck with TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way against Bayley on September 11, after which she stopped Banks from attacking Bayley afterwards, and after defeating Bayley in a rematch on the October 2 episode of NXT, she raised Bayley’s arm before hugging and shaking hands, making Charlotte a fan-favorite character again. [41] [unreliable source] Subsequently, in the weeks that followed, Charlotte and Bayley feuded with Banks and her partner Becky Lynch. Divas Champion (2015–2016) [ edit ]

On the July 13, 2015 episode of Raw, Stephanie McMahon called for a “revolution” in the Divas division and subsequently introduced Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks as members of the main roster. Charlotte and Lynch allied with Paige, who was involved in a feud with Team Bella (Alicia Fox and The Bella Twins), while Banks allied with Tamina and Naomi, beginning a rivalry between the three teams. The trio of Charlotte, Lynch, and Paige were nicknamed Team PCB after the initials of each wrestler’s first name. On July 19 on the Battlefield, Charlotte defeated Banks and Brie Bella in a Triple Threat Match in her WWE Pay-Per-View debut.[54][55][56] The three teams would eventually face each other at SummerSlam in a three-team elimination match, which Charlotte’s team won after Lynch pinned Brie Bella.

On the August 31 episode of Raw, Charlotte broke records set by other Team PCB members in the first-ever Divas Beat the Clock challenge and was named the new number one contender for Nikki Bella’s Divas Championship. Her title fight against Nikki Bella, originally promoted for Night of Champions,[59] came on the September 14 episode of Raw so Charlotte could stop Bella from surpassing AJ Lee’s record and becoming the longest-reigning Divas champion to become.[60] Charlotte won the match via disqualification after pinning Brie because the twins switched places, resulting in Nikki retaining her title while beating the record. On September 20 at Night of Champions, Charlotte defeated Nikki in a rematch to win the Divas Championship for the first time. During Charlotte’s celebration the following night on Raw, Paige clipped an edited shooting promo and turned on her and Lynch, berating her and the Divas department. Throughout October, Paige acted as if she wanted to make up with Lynch and Charlotte, only to have them attack both of them and cement her departure from the team, just one night after Charlotte successfully retained her championship against Nikki Bella at Hell in One cell.[66][67] In late 2015, Charlotte successfully defended her title against Paige on three separate occasions—at Survivor Series on November 22[68][69][70][71][72] in a rematch the following night on Raw[73]. ] and at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 13.[74]

In November, Charlotte began displaying villainous traits after defeating friend Becky Lynch by faking a leg injury, followed by a distraction from her father. Throughout December, Charlotte and Lynch’s relationship continued to be strained, and after losing to her on the January 4, 2016 episode of Raw, Charlotte attacked Lynch and solidified her villainy filing the lawsuit for the first time since 2014 in NXT. [81][82] Charlotte, with her father’s help, successfully retained the Divas Championship against Lynch three days later on SmackDown [83] and the Royal Rumble on January 24 [84]. In February, after losing to her in a non-title match, Brie Bella received a title match at Fastlane, where Charlotte again successfully retained her title. A few weeks later on March 12 at Roadblock, Charlotte retained the title against Natalya. Also in March, Charlotte caused a number one contender’s match between Lynch and Banks to end in a no contest after attacking both contenders. As a result, a Triple Threat match between Charlotte, Banks and Lynch was scheduled for WrestleMania 32 for the Divas Championship. At the event, a new WWE Women’s Championship replaced the Divas Championship[91] and Charlotte defeated Banks and Lynch to become the inaugural champion.[92][93]

Raw Women’s Champion (2016–2017) [ edit ]

Raw in April 2016; The title was renamed the Raw Women’s Championship in September of that same year in flair with what was then the WWE Women’s Championship the night after WrestleMania 32 in April 2016. The title was renamed the Raw Women’s Championship in September of that year

After WrestleMania 32, Charlotte began a feud with Natalya and successfully defended the title against her on the April 11, 2016 episode of Raw. Due to the end of the disqualification, a rematch was held at Payback on May 1, in which she defeated Natalya after referee Charles Robinson called off the match when Charlotte pinned Natalya in sniper, despite Natalya not coming forward, in a reference to the infamous “Shoot Screwjob” of the Montreal Screwjob.[97] After the match, both Natalya and Bret Hart, who was in Natalya’s corner, used the Sharpshooter on Charlotte and Ric Flair. At Extreme Rules on May 22, Charlotte retained her title against Natalya in a submission match after a distraction by Dana Brooke disguised as Flair. The following night on Raw, Charlotte turned on her father by claiming she no longer needed him and further aligned herself with Brooke, who would be credited as her protégé. At Money in the Bank on June 19, Charlotte and Brooke defeated Natalya and Lynch in a tag team match. On the June 20 episode of Raw, Charlotte retained her title over Paige with help from Brooke, with the two attacking Paige post-match, ending with Banks making the save. This led to a tag team match the following week in which Banks and Paige achieved the win. On July 24 on the battlefield, Charlotte and Brooke were defeated by Banks and debutant Bayley.

After being drafted to the Raw brand as part of the 2016 WWE draft on July 19, Charlotte made her first appearance for the brand on the July 25 episode of Raw in which she lost the WWE Women’s Championship to Sasha Banks and ended her reign after 113 days.[108] On August 21 at SummerSlam, Charlotte faced Banks in a rematch for the title, in which Flair was victorious to become a two-time champion. At the September 25 Clash of Champions, Charlotte retained the title (renamed the Raw Women’s Championship after the formation of the SmackDown Women’s Championship) [111] [112] in a triple threat match against Banks and Bayley. However, Charlotte dropped the title again to Banks in the main event of the October 3 episode of Raw. Around this time, Charlotte’s ring name was extended to Charlotte Flair.

At Hell in a Cell on October 30, Flair regained the title from Banks in the first women’s Hell in a Cell match to become a three-time women’s champion. This was also the first time that a women’s match was the final match on a WWE pay-per-view. The following night on Raw, Flair was revealed as Team Raw’s captain for Survivor Series on November 20 where Team Raw defeated Team SmackDown with Flair and Bayley being the survivors for Team Raw. On the November 28 episode of Raw, Flair faced Banks in a Fall Count Everywhere match, where Banks defeated Flair for the title, after which Ric Flair came out and celebrated with Banks. A 30-minute Iron Man match between the two was scheduled for Roadblock: End of the Line on December 18, resulting in a 2-2 tie, but Flair defeated Banks 3-2 in overtime sudden death and becoming a record four-time Raw Women’s Champion, as well as ending their six-month feud by determining Banks could not enforce her rematch clause thereafter. Shortly thereafter, Flair began a feud with Bayley, who since her debut in the main roster in August managed to defeat her in two non-title matches. This led to a title match between the two which took place at the Royal Rumble on January 29, 2017 where Flair successfully retained the title over Bayley.

On the February 13 episode of Raw, Flair dropped the title to Bayley in the main event. She later failed to regain the title in a rematch against Bayley at Fastlane on March 5, marking her first pay-per-view single-game loss in 16 singles wins. Also in March, Flair severed her association with Brooke and defeated her in a singles match. At WrestleMania 33 on April 2, Flair faced Bayley, Banks and Nia Jax in a four-way elimination match and was the last woman to be eliminated by eventual winner Bayley. On the April 10 episode of Raw, Flair was defeated by Jax in her final match for the mark.

SmackDown Women’s Champion (2017–2018) [ edit ]

On April 11, 2017, Flair was moved to the SmackDown brand as part of the Superstar Shake-up. The following week on SmackDown Live, she defeated SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi in a non-title match[135] to earn a title opportunity, which ended in a no-contest after The Welcoming Committee (Natalya, Carmella and Tamina) both had attacked participants.[136] This match made Flair the first woman in WWE history to compete in the Main Events of Raw, SmackDown and a WWE pay-per-view. In May, Flair teamed with Becky Lynch and Naomi against The Welcoming Committee, turning face in the process. At Backlash, the Welcome Committee defeated Flair, Naomi, and Lynch in a six-woman tag team match when the latter submitted to Natalya’s sniper. Shortly thereafter, Flair competed at Money in the Bank as part of the first-ever women’s money in the bank ladder game, which was won by Carmella. On the July 23 battlefield, Flair competed in a five-way elimination match to determine the number one contender for the championship, but was the last woman to be eliminated by eventual winner Natalya.

After taking time off to help her father with his legitimate health issues, Flair returned to SmackDown on September 19 and thanked the WWE Universe for their family’s support. Later that night, she won a fatal four-way match to become the number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. At Hell in a Cell on October 8, Natalya retained her title over Flair when she attacked her with a steel chair, causing Flair a disqualification victory. On the November 14 episode of SmackDown, Flair defeated Natalya in a rematch to win the title in her hometown and became the first female wrestler to win the Divas, NXT, Raw, and SmackDown Women’s Championships. With the win, Flair replaced Natalya in the Interbrand Champion vs. Champion match against Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss at Survivor Series, which Flair won. A month later, at the Clash of Champions on December 17, Flair retained the title against Natalya in a Lumberjack match.

Towards the end of 2017, Flair teamed up again with Becky Lynch and Naomi to go head-to-head with the debuting Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan) after the three attacked her shortly after their debut. [154][155][156][157][158] At Fastlane on March 11, 2018, Flair defeated Ruby Riott to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship[159] and was subsequently challenged by Royal Rumble winner Asuka.[160 ] Flair won the subsequent title match at WrestleMania 34 by getting Asuka to submit, ending the challenger’s undefeated streak after 914 days in the process. Two days later, on the April 10 episode of SmackDown, The IIconics (Peyton Royce and Billie Kay) attacked Flair. Carmella took the opportunity to cash in on her money-in-the-bank contract and won the championship for the first time in her career. Flair failed to regain the title in a May 6 rematch at Backlash. In June, Flair competed in her second Money in the Bank ladder match, which was ultimately won by Alexa Bliss. After the event, Flair took time off to undergo surgery for a ruptured breast implant.

Flair returned on the July 31 episode of SmackDown, saving Becky Lynch from an attack by Carmella. She later defeated Carmella to be included in the championship match between Carmella and Lynch at SummerSlam, making it a triple threat match. At the event, Flair pinned Lynch to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the second time in her career. With the win, Flair became the second woman in WWE history, alongside WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, to hold seven Women’s Championships. After the match, Lynch attacked Flair, sparking a feud between the two that led to a match at Hell in a Cell on September 16 in which Flair lost the title to Lynch.[174][175][176] Flair defeated Lynch by disqualification at Super Show-Down [177] [178] and fought her in a rematch two days later, on the October 9 episode of SmackDown, which ended in a double countout. As a result, Flair was given another title shot against Lynch in the first Last Woman Standing match at Evolution, where Lynch defeated Flair.

Championship reigns (2018–2020) [ edit ]

In November, Flair was selected by Becky Lynch as her replacement in a match against Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series, which she lost by disqualification after viciously attacking Rousey with a kendo stick and a chair, twisting her heel into the process.[184] The following month, on December 16 at the TLC pay-per-view, Flair faced Lynch and Asuka in the first-ever women’s Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match, who would go on to win the match , after Rousey pushed both Flair and Lynch off a ladder.

At Royal Rumble on January 27, Flair competed in the Women’s Royal Rumble match and eliminated five women before being last eliminated by Becky Lynch. As a result, at WrestleMania 35, Lynch won a title match against Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. However, in February, Vince McMahon (kayfabe) suspended Lynch for 60 days and replaced her with Flair. 195][196] Lynch was reinstated in March. At Fastlane, she defeated Flair by disqualification after Rousey attacked Lynch to give her the win, making the title match at WrestleMania a triple threat match. Just days before WrestleMania, on the March 26 episode of SmackDown, Flair defeated Asuka to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship for a third time. In doing so, she became the only woman in WWE history to win eight women’s championships. At the event, marking the first time women have held a WrestleMania event, Flair lost her championship in a Winner Takes All match for both her SmackDown and Ronda Rousey’s Raw Women’s Championships when Lynch pinned Rousey for both titles to win.

Shortly after WrestleMania, Flair continued her feud with Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, stating that she was undefeated at WrestleMania. She earned a rematch by defeating Bayley, and at Money in the Bank she regained the title by defeating Lynch after an interference from Lacey Evans. After the match, the two continued to attack Lynch until Bayley made the save. Bayley, who won the Money in the Bank contract earlier in the night, conceded and defeated Flair to end her reign in just 4 minutes and 52 seconds, Flair’s shortest title reign ever and the shortest for that title. 209] After Money in the Bank, Lynch focused on defending her Raw Championship, ending the nearly year-long feud between the two.

After a brief hiatus, Flair returned on the July 16 episode of SmackDown. She dubbed herself “the greatest female Superstar of all time” a week later and entered into a short history with Trish Stratus of the WWE Hall of Fame. At SummerSlam, Flair defeated Stratus by submission in his second retirement match. After this win, Flair felt she deserved an opportunity at the SmackDown Women’s Championship and reignited her feud with Bayley. On September 15, at the Clash of Champions, Bayley retained against Flair after using an exposed turnbuckle. After Flair made Bayley submit during a tag team match, she earned another title shot. At Hell in a Cell on October 6, Flair defeated Bayley to win her record fifth SmackDown Women’s Championship, her tenth women’s championship on WWE’s main roster. Five days later on SmackDown, Flair reverted the title to Bayley.

As part of the 2019 draft, Flair was designed for the Raw brand.[226] In November, Flair was revealed as Team Raw’s captain for Survivor Series, where Team Raw and Team Smackdown lost to Team NXT after Team Raw member Asuka spat green mist in Flair’s face, eliminating Flair from Lacey Evans. The following night on Raw, Flair lost to Asuka, with some help from her tag team partner Kairi Sane. Flair then teamed with Becky Lynch to face the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in a TLC match at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, but the two were unsuccessful.

On January 26, 2020, at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, Flair won the annual Royal Rumble match by eventually eliminating Shayna Baszler. After weeks of making an announcement regarding her championship opponent at WrestleMania 36, it led to several confrontations with NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley on Raw[231] and NXT[232]. At TakeOver: Portland, Flair attacked Ripley and accepted her challenge. At WresteMania 36 Night 2 on April 5, Flair defeated Ripley by submission to win her second NXT Women’s Championship, which marked her 12th Women’s Championship overall in WWE. At TakeOver: In Your House, Flair lost the title to Io Shirai in a triple threat match also involving Rhea Ripley, ending her reign at 63 days. In late June, she was attacked by Nia Jax, resulting in a kayfabe arm injury. This was done to write Flair off TV so she could take time off to have another operation on her breast implants.

Grand Slam champion (since 2020) [ edit ]

At TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 20, Flair returned as a face as Asuka’s surprise tag team partner, which she used to defeat Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. With the win, Flair became the fifth women’s Triple Crown champion and fourth women’s Grand Slam champion. Flair and Asuka successfully defended the titles in a triple threat tag team match on the December 25 episode of SmackDown. Flair then began a feud with Lacey Evans and her father, Ric Flair, who began interfering in their matches. Flair and Asuka would return the tag team titles at the Royal Rumble to Jax and Baszler due to interference from Flair and Evans. That same night, Flair competed in the women’s Royal Rumble match, entering 15th and eliminating Peyton Royce before being eliminated by both Rhea Ripley and eventual winner Bianca Belair.

On the February 15 episode of Raw, after Lacey Evans announced that she was legally pregnant, the Raw Women’s Championship match between her and Asuka at the Elimination Chamber was called off. On the February 22 episode of Raw, Flair told her father to go home because she couldn’t focus on her games, marking the end of her story. On the March 1 episode of Raw, Flair made clear her intention to challenge Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 37, but that didn’t happen as Flair tested positive for COVID-19 and removed her from the WrestleMania cover photo ][ 242]

Flair returned on the April 12 edition of Raw. Later that night, she interfered in the Raw Women’s Championship match between Asuka and Rhea Ripley, turning heel in the process. The following week, she was suspended (in kayfabe) and fined $100,000 for assaulting a referee after losing to Asuka in a singles match. Her suspension was lifted by Sonya Deville on April 26 on Raw.[246] Charlotte would also have several title fights over the next three pay-per-views, including a triple threat match against Asuka and Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania Backlash and against Ripley at Hell in a Cell, both of which she was unsuccessful.
