Patricia Hutch Children

Patricia Hutch and Gerry Hutch have two daughters. The older daughter’s name is Jennifer, but the younger one is yet to be announced. To keep her anonymous, they shared her details.

Jennifer married in 2006 while the younger was due to get married in 2016. Due to the turn of events with the FBI and gangsters, the marriage was called off.

Hutch’s younger daughter was due to marry her DJ fiancée, but the family deced that even a small wedding would be too risky.

The father was supposed to be present at the wedding, but since Gerry was on the No. 1 hit list for Kinahan members, the wedding was too big a risk.

Prison bosses brace for a security nightmare after Gerry “The Monk” Hutch demands his wife and son visit him behind bars.

Hutch, 58, has officially asked to see his wife Patricia and one of his sons while he awaits trial in the gang murder of David Byrne, a Kinahan cartel operative.

So far it is known that the gangster has not had any personal visits and has only seen his legal team since he was jailed in Dublin’s Wheatfield prison on September 29.

But sources say the monk has added the names of his wife and son to his visiting list in recent days.

Her arrival at the prison would pose a massive security challenge for the prison and for Gardai, who have warned members of the Hutch family about the active threat to their lives.

Several members of the Hutch clan and the monk’s associates have already been warned not to visit for safety reasons.

However, sources say prison bosses have conceded they cannot stop anyone from visiting the monk as it is his right.

A source added: “Gerry has asked to see his wife and he has the right to do so. Of course, this brings with it a number of safety concerns and both would have been made aware of them.”

Hutch’s wife Patricia has been by his side since he fled Ireland in 2016 – he moved back and forth between Lanzarote, mainland Spain, Turkey and the Netherlands to avoid the ruthless Kinahan cartel that killed his brother, two close associates and three nephews.

She was also seen alongside the monk as Guardia Civil officers monitored his movements in Fuengirola, months after he fled after allegedly receiving a tip-off about an arrest warrant issued against him.

When officers finally picked up Hutch at a pizza restaurant, Patricia was back at his side watching as her husband was eventually arrested.

It is now known that she wishes to be reunited with him at Wheatfield Prison, where he is being held in an area nicknamed “The Hutch Landing”.

Several measures have already been taken to ensure optimal security for the monk given the relative isolation in prison.

So far, Hutch appears to have taken no steps to seek bail, although he could file a case in the High Court if he wishes.

Sources say the notorious figure, who grew a massive beard behind bars, is so well protected in prison that he may not consider asking for bail for some time.

Consideration has already been given to moving a number of prisoners from the “3G” wing where Hutch is being held, while he has also been placed in a cell not visible from the outside to deter the use of drones against him.

Gardai are also understood to be patrolling the prison itself 24/7 to make further efforts to maintain top-level security around the crime boss.

When the monk was tried last month, authorities ensured he was only briefly held in Portlaoise prison, where many of his mortal enemies are being held, before he was taken to Wheatfield.

Gerry Hutch

Irish criminal (born 1963)

Gerard “Gerry”[1] Hutch is an Irish criminal. He was the prime suspect in two of the largest armed robberies in Irish history.[2][3] Known for leading a “disciplined, austere lifestyle” since his release from prison in 1985, he was nicknamed “The Monk” by Veronica Guerin, an investigative journalist who was murdered in 1996.

Early life[edit]

Born in central Dublin, his criminal career began at the age of 10.[4] Sometime in the 1970s, Hutch joined the Bugsy Malone gang of inner-city youth (named after the Bugsy Malone film) whom he later led, whose crimes included “jumping” — jumping over bank counters, stealing cash and run away.[4]

He was later part of a gang involved in major robberies and was convicted on multiple occasions between 1970 and 1983, spending time in prison at times.[7] His gang are said to have amassed an estimated IR£40m from a series of bank robberies, jewelery thefts and scams spanning almost eight years. Hutch was also awarded money from claims in Irish courts. These included £8,500 won by Securicor Ireland in June 1991, £2,000 from the Sunday Tribune newspaper in a defamation suit and around £26,000 won in court cases against the Irish State.[4]

Hutch admitted to being a “convicted criminal” in a 2008 interview with The Independent, but insisted he made his money through real estate deals, not crime.

Corinthians Boxing Club[edit]

In 1998 he was a charter member of the Corinthians Boxing Club in Dublin and served as the club’s treasurer. The club has a fully equipped gym and a boxing ring. The latter was donated by film director Jim Sheridan after he made the film The Boxer.[4]

Criminal Police Office [edit]

In 1999, during a court case against Hutch brought by the Irish state’s money laundering agency, the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB), Detective Chief Superintendent Felix McKenna stated that Hutch was involved in the robbery of IR£1.7million of armored vehicles Vans at the Marino Mart in January 1987 and the £3million armed robbery of a Brinks Allied Security depot in Clonshaugh, County Dublin in 1995 which was the largest cash robbery in the state at the time.

Hutch eventually reached a £1.2m agreement with the CAB to “repay tax and interest for a period of nine years”.[4][11]

Wearing any body[edit]

After the CAB agreement, Hutch applied for and received a taxi license[12][13] and founded the limousine service Carry Any Body. The name is a humorous reference to the Criminal Assets Bureau.[14][15]

He has appeared in the Irish media driving celebrities [14] including Mike Tyson [16] on their visits to Ireland.

Film and TV[edit]

Hutch is portrayed in the film Veronica Guerin, played by Alan Devine.[17] It is based on the life of the late Irish journalist Veronica Guerin, who interviewed him.[3]

Hutch appeared on RTÉ’s Prime Time program in March 2008, where he was interviewed about his life and criminal career. Hutch has denied any criminal activity other than tax evasion since his last sentence.[8]

Hutch was the subject of investigations in the Irish TV series Dirty Money.[8] Episode 5, which aired in March 2008, was devoted entirely to the assets confiscated from Hutch by the CAB[18] and the threat to confiscate assets from his family.[19]

family [edit]

He is an uncle of Gary Hutch, who was shot dead near Marbella, Andalusia, Spain in September 2015.[20] His brother Eddie Hutch Snr. was shot dead in North Strand Dublin in February 2016.[20]

European Arrest Warrant[edit]

In April 2021 he became the subject of a European Arrest Warrant as Gardaí said they had sufficient evidence to charge him with murder in connection with the shooting of David Byrne.[21] The European Arrest Warrant was issued after the Chief Prosecutor’s Office requested that he be charged with murder and tried by the Special Criminal Court.[21] He will likely also face other charges such as attempted murder and possession of a weapon.[21] An investigation file was submitted to the DPP in late 2020 by Garda detectives based in Ballymun. He was arrested in Spain in August 2021.[22]

Extradition and indictment[edit]

On 29 September 2021 he was extradited to the Republic of Ireland and flown by the Irish Armed Forces in a military CASA 235 from Madrid to Casement Airfield.[23] He was then taken under an armed Garda escort to the Criminal Courts, where he was tried in the Special Criminal Court for the murder of David Byrne.[23] He was held in custody until 10:30 am on October 15.[23] Other co-defendants are scheduled to appear in court on October 3, 2022, and the prosecutor asked him to come on that date, to which the three judges agreed.[23]

Both Hutch and Jonathan Dowdall, who is also accused of murder, argued in a High Court judicial review that proceedings before the Special Criminal Court were unlawful and a breach of their fundamental rights, given that the Court, once established as a permanent body, was unlawful operate temporarily set up.[24] These were dismissed by Mr. Anthony Barr, who ruled that the legislation was neither temporary nor limited in time.[24] Both Hutch and Dowdall applied for permission to appeal the High Court’s decision to the Supreme Court.[24] On May 5, 2022, a panel reserved judgment in both cases.[24] At the request of the Attorney General’s Counsel, the case was adjourned until July 1, 2022, pending the Supreme Court’s decision.[24]
