“Delta variant has resulted in a sharp increase in community transmission of COVID-19 in Lancaster County. It’s important that everyone helps slow the spread of the virus by wearing masks indoors,” a statement on Lincoln City’s website said.

“In Lincoln and Lancaster County, any owner or operator of any building, business or premises, other than a residence, is required to require everyone to wear a face mask indoors. Janene Hoskovec Facebook & Twitter

#JaneneHoskovec is trending on Twitter and Facebook after this whole incident video went viral across the internet.

Janene Hoskovec ‘No Longer Works for SAP’ After Viral Lincoln Coughing Video

Janene Hoskovec is an Arizona woman and former SAP employee accused of coughing on a mother and daughter who were shopping at a Super Saver grocery store in Lincoln, Nebraska. Video of the September 3, 2021 incident went viral after it was posted on social media. The maskless woman in the video confronted the other shoppers for wearing masks.

Hoskovec, 55, worked for SAP and the company said in a statement after the video went viral that it was “investigating the situation”. SAP said in an update late September 8, 2021, “We have reviewed the incident and can confirm that the individual concerned no longer works for SAP.”

Hoskovec was first credited as the woman in the video by TikTok creator ThatDaneshGuy, known for investigating and finding people in viral videos and stories. Danesh, who said he worked with another TikTok user, Guilt, to confirm Hoskovec’s identity, posted a video on September 7, 2021 in which she gave her name, which led to SAP’s statement.

In its first statement released on Twitter, SAP said: “The health and safety of our employees and the communities in which we live and work are of the utmost importance to us. We are taking the SAP employee incident very seriously and are investigating the situation.” SAP is a software company based in Germany. Hoskovec could not be reached for comment from Heavy and has not commented publicly on the video or the allegations against her. The Lincoln Police Department and Super Saver also have not commented.

The video was first posted on Reddit by the woman who was coughed up. She captioned the video on Lincoln’s subreddit, “Anti-Mask Karen intentionally coughing on me in the South 27th Super Saver.” It was also posted on TikTok by her 13-year-old daughter and went viral there as well. It went viral on Twitter after being shared by popular accounts like Fifty Shades of Whey, who wrote in his tweet: “Nebraska COVID denier coughs on shoppers in a supermarket. … This woman was last seen in a Super Saver in Lincoln, Nebraska, purposely coughing on innocent people and spraying her aerosols in the midst of a deadly pandemic.”

The 13-year-old’s father, who wasn’t in the store, also shared the video on Twitter and wrote: “She instigated the whole thing. A mother/child chosen to molest. Guess they just wanted to get away. Lady continued to follow them. Some other people stepped in. The Super Saver they were with didn’t actually do anything – told the lady to go/wear a mask etc. They just canceled it.

Here’s what you need to know about Janene Hoskovec and the viral video:

1. The video shows a woman coughing repeatedly at mother and daughter, blaming it on “allergies” and then calling them “sheep”.

Nebraska COVID denier coughs up shoppers at a supermarket pic.twitter.com/Ejy9HfsshS – Fifty Shades of Whey (@davenewworld_2) September 7, 2021

The incident happened on September 3, 2021 at the Super Saver grocery store near South Pointe Mall at South 27th Street and Pine Lake Road, according to the woman, who was coughed up along with her teenage daughter. The video shows a woman pushing her shopping cart towards the woman, who picks up several times and coughs. While coughing, the woman says, “Excuse me, I can get through.” Then she says to the woman and her daughter, “Look at you, you are so cute. … You are such a sheep.”

The woman’s shot asked the coughing woman why she wasn’t wearing a mask, and she replied, “Because I don’t need one. I’m not sick and neither are you.” According to the county health department, all non-residential indoor spaces in Lincoln and Lancaster County, Nebraska, have a mask mandate for both vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals.

In the video, the woman ignores requests from the mother and daughter to stop coughing on her. She keeps coughing several times and tells them, “These are my allergies.” She then adds, “Two years ago, before anyone started talking about COVID, you were okay with that.” The video shows a staff member intervening. The woman’s recording tells him that the other woman coughed on her, and the cougher replies, “I have my allergies. And she totally freaked out.”

Reddit user Jessabird, who posted the video, said in her post, “So my kid and I were at the store tonight to get some groceries when this lady came up to us and politely said, ‘sorry’, and to be honest i thought she was going to ask me for help or ask where something was. I was about to say “I don’t work here lady” when she asked why we wear masks. That’s when I realized she wasn’t wearing one herself.”

Jessabird added:

I started walking away while replying, “Because of the Delta variant and also because there is a mandate.” Then she shared how she was born and raised here in Nebraska and it’s a shame some Nebrascans are in transformed sheep. She asked if I had been vaccinated and said my child and I didn’t need to wear masks because we looked young and healthy. There were several other people wearing masks but for some reason she chose to tease me and my child. At the end of this video, a poor guy who worked there tried to step in and basically told us to just go our own way. Karen walked away and I told the guy what happened. He said it’s not the first time he’s dealt with people like her at work. I then tried to continue shopping but this lady followed me through the store. I told her to keep her distance and that her coughing on me was an attack. She laughed and kept saying, “Look at you, it’s so cute how scared you are!” “At that point I was absolutely furious and trying my best to keep it together in front of my kid. I didn’t finish my shopping but went to the self checkout to pay for my stuff. Next, she followed me to use the self-service checkout right next to mine. I informed the cashier that this woman had attacked me in the store by deliberately coughing on me, but I didn’t wait to see what the clerk would say. I just really wanted to get us out of there.

According to the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, a mask mandate has been in place since August 26 and is expected to last until at least September 30, 2021. The city said on its website, “The Delta variant has caused a large spike in community transmission of COVID-19 in Lancaster County. It’s important that everyone helps slow the spread of the virus by wearing masks indoors.”

The city added: “Everyone aged two and over must wear a mask indoors except for a residence, whether they have been vaccinated or not. If you are not fully vaccinated, your mask is one of the most powerful tools you have to protect yourself and others.”

We’ve previously reported on the free anti-masking at Super Saver Foods, where the owner, City Council Member Jane Raybould, doesn’t appear to be enforcing the city mask mandate. Again and again we have heard reports and seen photos of masking violations there. pic.twitter.com/4BvJH7o9uS – Seeing Red Nebraska (@SeeingRedNE) September 4, 2021

The woman who posted the video added on Reddit, “I’d like to add something… I don’t really like the way I handled this at the store. I shouldn’t have gotten involved with this lady after knowing what she really wanted to talk about. I was so shocked by her behavior that I hardly thought to say anything. I wish I would have just left and shopped elsewhere instead. It wasn’t a fun or amusing experience. Rather, it was bizarre and strange. I understand that some people don’t want to masquerade, but I don’t go around trying to argue with them. I mind my own business and I expect others to mind theirs. As I said above, at first I didn’t even notice that this lady wasn’t wearing a mask. But it’s a huge problem when a grown adult takes to spitting their unmasked germs at strangers in a public setting.”

5. The Lincoln Police Department is investigating and in other similar cases in other states individuals have been criminally charged

Another woman was misidentified as the woman in the video by some people on social media. Danicetrauernicht Brod wrote on Facebook: “Hi everyone, I noticed that there is a video circulating on Facebook of a lady coughing on customers at Super Saver without wearing a mask. I can assure you that the allegations made against me are completely false. The person in the video is NOT me. I contacted the Lincoln Police Department and they have started their investigation to find the actual culprit. I ask that if you see this post please share. Many Thanks.”

Brod’s employer, Lincoln dealership DuTeau Chevrolet, said on Facebook: “We are incredibly saddened by the events that took place at Super Saver on S 27th Street. What pains us most is that one of our employees is being held responsible for something they DID not do. Danice Brod is not the lady many of you see in a recent video. Danice is an incredibly kind woman with the biggest heart. We ask that you stop posting and slandering her name. She is an incredible person and a fabulous collaborator. Please, if you have posted anything about this video that mentions your name, we ask that you remove it. Many Thanks.”

Lincoln police have not commented on their investigation and whether Hoskovec could be charged. Other states have arrested and convicted people in similar situations. Others have been charged with making terrorist threats, trespassing and assault in similar incidents in multiple states.

The City of Lincoln said on its website: “If you are fully vaccinated, wearing a mask indoors gives you extra protection from contagion. Fully vaccinated individuals are well protected from serious illness and death from COVID-19, including the Delta variant. But we see cases in vaccinated people and they can infect others. For this reason, even if you are fully vaccinated, you must wear a mask indoors.
