LA is home to some of the biggest names in global entertainment, from A-list stars of the big screen to young YouTubers looking to find their way to the top.
Apparently, however, some crooks are trying to take advantage of these wealthy celebrities — and someone by the name of Sophia Nur may have pulled off the ultimate heist.
With #SurvivingSophia trending and numerous influencers discussing her alleged antics in a Twitter Spaces call, it has been claimed that Sophia may have made a ton of money by scamming influencers.

As mentioned above, many influencers and their fans have referred to this situation as “surviving Sophia”. They told stories about her befriending them and claiming she needed to borrow money and then never seeing it again.

During the call and in various tweets surrounding it, the influencers shared their stories.
One person, Camille, claimed she bought a plane ticket and hotel stays for Sophia, who she now says “kept trying to get over her” by frequently asking for more money without paying it back.
Suzy Antonyan and Jeff Wittek, members of David Dobrik’s Vlog Squad, were both also in the Twitter Space talking about Sophia and her experiences.
Wittek revealed that he gave Sophia his credit card as she regularly told stories about being stolen, robbed or having no place to stay.
She also reportedly opened up about how obsessed rapper Jack Harlow was with her and even suggested she was pregnant with his child. TikTok user Bluevibe93 posted several videos of the Twitter Space, including the first one embedded here.

Did Jack Harlow get Sophia Nur pregnant?
At the time of writing, there is no discernible evidence that Jack Harlow actually got Sophia Nur pregnant, and much of the allegation is little more than allegations.
Mike Majlak, YouTuber and co-host of the Impaulsive podcast alongside Logan Paul, revealed that he met Sophia in Atlanta in April 2021 and claimed she met Jack Harlow “and many others” that night.

Many people who heard the story struggled to feel sympathy for these LA influencers, sharing jokes and memes galore. Knight Tasia said that “y’all are just stupid,” while Asia used TikTok star Khaby Lame to let her see the flaw in her behavior.
Sophia’s Twitter account was quickly taken down but has since been taken over by someone who joked about the drama and wrote offensive or derogatory tweets.
Whether we ever hear Sophia’s side of the story remains to be seen.
How a Supposed Scammer Became Social Media’s Biggest Mystery
Every few months, a new TikTok phenomenon takes over and racks up millions of views, along with endless conspiracy theories and half-baked takes. In November it was the hashtag #SurvivingSophia for a short time.
Based on a handful of tweets and TikToks, the story was engaging and confusing – the viewer felt like they were thrown into the middle of a story that had no clear beginning or end, just videos of people talking about either their experiences or themselves languages. proclaimed cultural recapitulators attempting to analyze unconfirmed details. But even if people didn’t quite follow, it was captivating: At the time of publication, the hashtags “SurvivingSophia” and “SophiaNur” have amassed a combined 63.8 million views on TikTok.
According to some of the people behind the posts, the central character is a woman named Sophia Nur, a 24-year-old Somali Muslim woman from Toronto, Canada, who hopped from one major city to the next. They say Nur is “obsessed with L.A. influencers” and always managed to find their way into spaces they would be in, like Jake Paul’s Triller Fight vs. Ben Askren or the VIP area at Rolling Loud Miami. Nur befriended influencers and the people in those social circles — or at least tried to, according to people who spoke to Rolling Stone — which made her presence in the digital cultural elite more normal.
In interviews with Rolling Stone, seven influencers and other people who met Nur shared a similar story: Although no one in the scene really knew Nur, she was always there, telling people she worked in public relations or was an influencer’s friend knew . She’s often said she had some sort of relationship with rapper Jack Harlow — sometimes saying she was Harlow’s PR, while other times saying she was in a romantic relationship with him. Additionally, Nur allegedly asked people to pay for their flights and hotels, with promises of a refund that didn’t often materialize. (Harlow, 23, did not respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment.)
One of the earliest Twitter threads addressing complaints about Nur was posted by her cousin, Halima. Halima, who didn’t respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment, wrote that “she cheated on me and my friends and tried to ruin our lives.” The 16-tweet thread described how Nur 2019 asked to stay with her in London for two months while she “went on a PR tour as she was a publicist for Anwar Hadid and worked for OVO,” a popular clothing brand.
Halima wrote that Nur said she was having trouble with her bank card and asked Halima to show her some money, which she did. “Since she was my family, I believed her,” she wrote. Only showed her a bank statement with tens of thousands of dollars, she said in the thread. Halima revealed she loaned Nur about £1,500 in total, nearly $2,000.
Afterwards, according to the thread, Halima said she introduced Nur to a few friends, and Nur promised them she could help them with their careers by telling one she’d landed him a record deal and a recording session with Naughty Boy and another got a modeling contract with Louis Vuitton. The thread ends abruptly with a story about confronting Nur and realizing that “every call, every text and every story was a lie, she still hasn’t admitted anything”.
As people tried to make sense of this thread, which garnered nearly 20,000 likes on Twitter, some began sharing a clip of an April 2021 episode of Logan Paul’s podcast Impaulsive alongside the hashtag. In it, co-host Mike Majlak shared a story about a woman he met at Jake Paul’s boxing match against Ben Askren, which was hosted by Triller in Atlanta. According to the episode, this woman – who remained unnamed in the video but confirmed to Rolling Stone Majlak that she was Nur – introduced herself as a Triller employee. Majlak said that this woman “made her way into every single setting for the rest of the night and was forcibly removed by security at every single event.” (Triller told Rolling Stone that Nur never worked for her.)
In an interview with RS, Majlak recalled them as “funky” and “quirky”. He says he and other influencers mingled in open bars at the stadium before the start of the fight when Nur introduced himself. As they begin to settle into their suites where they are supposed to watch the fight, Nur “sneaks” into the suite intended for Paul’s “family and friends.” Majlak says she told him she didn’t know where her friends or “the team” were, so she asked if she could watch the fight with them. Majlak said that was fine.
Singer and TikTok star Olivia O’Brien, 22, tells Rolling Stone that she thought “something was wrong with her” when she met Nur that night. Their first interaction was at one of the bars outside of the suite when Nur recognized O’Brien and complimented her on her hair. She says Nur told her that she works for a PR firm that sent her to the event alone – a different story than what she told Majlak.
As O’Brien and her friends make their way to the suite, Nur tells O’Brien that her phone is about to die and asks if she could join them to charge it. Nur started taking “selfie videos of us and [asking for our names because] she wants to tag us,” which O’Brien found odd since Nur had claimed she follows all of them on social media. Not wanting to be seen as a reason for Nur being in the suite, she pulled Majlak aside and asked to have Sophia removed.
O’Brien recalls that Nur later found her way back to her suite and apologized to Majlak for making him uncomfortable. She said she’d lost her AirPods and just needed to find them (this was a common excuse for her to work her way back to places she should leave, others have claimed.) While she was there, Logan Paul entered the suite and Nur approached him. “She runs up to him and says, ‘Do you hate me? I’m so sorry!’ He had no idea who she was,” says O’Brien. (Paul did not respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment.)
After the fight ended, those in the suite met at a nightclub. It was there that Majlak and O’Brien noticed Nur as she made her way to their table. Again Nur was forcibly removed and faced Majlak. “I can’t do anything,” he told her. “No one knows who you are.”
Around 2am the club closed and the group went to Jake Paul’s house. O’Brien says Nur asked if she could hop in her Uber, but there wasn’t space, so she got into another car with one of O’Brien’s friends instead. O’Brien says she texted this friend and told him not to let Nur into the Uber. But somehow Nur ended up in Jake’s mansion.
Majlak and Logan said on the podcast that they decided to let her stay because Paul was “impressed with her ability to be wherever I look.” But Majlak tells Rolling Stone that she was finally kicked out by security one last time. The next morning, O’Brien received video of Majlak from fellow YouTubers JC Caylen and Oscar Guerra, who recorded themselves with Nur, whom they encountered in the lobby of the hotel they were staying at. Looking back, Majlik is more amused than upset. “There’s a kind of jovial ridiculousness to the whole situation that has been a common thread for all of us creators,” he tells Rolling Stone.
Others, however, did not find Nur’s antics so amusing. A woman named Camille — who asked that her last name not be included due to privacy concerns — tells Rolling Stone that she met Nur on the Clubhouse app in May 2021. The two had lunch in Atlanta when Nur was in town because, as she told Camille, she was working for the trill match that was taking place there. Just paid for lunch and the cost of hookah at a hookah bar, says Camille. She became suspicious when Nur asked her to pay for her $400 flight from Atlanta to Nashville, but says she “didn’t push it because she paid for everything the other day. ‘I guess we’re even,'” she thought.
Camille says the two stayed in touch and developed a friendship where they “talked to each other every day.” Not long after, Camille said she received a FaceTime call from Nur, who was in L.A. at the time and sounded panicked. Nur told Camille that some family members had used up their credit cards so she couldn’t afford a hotel and needed help paying for a hotel.
“I feel for her and I had the money to give it to her, so I didn’t mind,” Camille told Rolling Stone. She says she only gave another $250, bringing the total to $650.
Camille’s suspicions grew after Nur said she tried to send her the original $400 via PayPal but told her it would take a while because it was from Canada. (Camille said she believed this to be a lie because she said she orders items from China for the small business she owns and the payment is immediate.) Camille decided to get in touch with a man named Alec Holden, a real estate agent that Camille knew. and who claimed Nur was her friend.
“So I texted Alec and said, ‘Hey, do you know Sophia? She said you’re her boyfriend,” Camille tells Rolling Stone. She says he responded by saying he didn’t know her. “That’s how I found out everything was a lie.” Camille immediately urged Nur to pay her back the money, which she says she eventually did. (Holden did not respond to Rolling Stone’s requests for comment.)
Looking back on the experience, Camille says she felt upset and betrayed. “I felt stupid for believing their lies,” she says.
On June 18, 2021, Brittany met DeJardo Nur at a bar in Los Angeles when DeJardo was hooking up with a friend who “had a group of girls there,” and the two began following each other on social media. When DeJardo visited Rolling Loud in Miami the following month, she met Nur at a rooftop party. After that, Nur, DeJardo, their friend Leticia Moreira, along with a group of influencers that included Denzel Dion, went to a strip club called Gold Rush. Nur said Jack Harlow, who she said was her boyfriend, would be playing a set there that night.
“It was just [suspect], we were all just chasing her,” DeJardo tells Rolling Stone. “Denzel said, ‘I’m sick of this,'” which led her to wonder why he was in such a bad mood.
After arriving in Gold Rush, DeJardo said Nur told her she would “talk to Jack.” The group watched as Nur left saying she would speak to Harlow. “She just went behind the DJ booth and happily sat there for a little bit like we couldn’t see her, and then she came back and said, ‘Well, I talked to Jack,'” DeJardo says.
Harlow never came out to do a performance; Around 5 a.m., DeJardo said goodbye to Nur and left. Over the next few weeks, the two kept in touch only sparsely. But in early August, Nur texted DeJardo about an upcoming trip to Las Vegas. DeJardo tells Rolling Stone that she went because Hotel Resorts World was hosting her and she had tickets to see Harlow at Zouk Nightclub.
“Hey, I saw on your [Instagram] story that you’re all going to Vegas,” Nur wrote to DeJardo. “Me, Rickey [Thompson] and Denzel [going] on Friday too.”
Jai’Lynn Parham – who was approached by Nur at the concert – recalled that trip in a now viral TikTok video. Parham said she met Nur on stage at the Harlow concert and was invited to go with the group to an afterparty, which Nur told her Harlow was throwing.
When the concert was over, Harlow came back to chat with people on stage. Both Parham and DeJardo tell Rolling Stone that they saw Nur pull Harlow over to a couch on stage and start talking to him. Parham says she saw Nur introduce Harlow, which she found strange. When Nur came back, DeJardo and Parham said, she said Harlow was “mad” at her for flirting with his boyfriend Urban Wyatt. (Wyatt did not respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment.) After the show, DeJardo says they all followed Nur to a casino, where she told them they were meeting up with Harlow to go to a party. But he never showed himself.
On November 18, a group of content creators set up a Twitter space — the platform version of an audio-only chat room — titled “#SurvivingSophia what a mess this is.” At one point, The Space garnered nearly 20,000 listeners, and to the Speakers included Camille, as well as social media stars with huge followings like former Vlog Squad member Jeff Wittek, YouTuber Suzy Antonyan, and both Dion and Thompson. (Antonyan did not respond to a request for comment.)
Screen shots of the Space, later uploaded to TikTok and Twitter, showed the speakers voicing their grievances and sharing their experiences with Nur. This space spawned several offshoots of Twitter Spaces that were still centered around Nur and the drama, but then quickly turned into chaos as different views of the situation were thrown around.
Some came to her defense. In one of the Twitter sections, “#SurvivingStupidity, Let Sophia Live,” many people were upset by the suggestion written elsewhere that Nur might have fabricated an allegation of sexual assault. They argued that these allegations should not be brought into a discussion about someone simply “borrowing” funds but never repaying them. “At the end of the day, I don’t care how shitty a person is… that’s not part of the conversation about them being a scammer,” said one person at the Space.
In a TikTok, a screen capture of space, Antonyan was asked to share her encounter with Nur. “I’ll fuck that bitch if I fucking see her again,” Antonyan said. Dion said he didn’t send any money to Nur, but claimed he paid for Nur’s flight and hotel, which he still hasn’t reimbursed. Wittek said he gave Sophia his credit card information after she called him crying and saying that “people are after her”.
Though a group of influencers who attended the space declined to comment, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Wittek said he met Nur outside of Miami’s LIV Nightclub following the June 2021 boxing match between Austin McBroom and Bryce Hall. He says Nur was introduced as a publicist himself and he gave her his phone number. She wrote to him for a few days, he says, asking to meet so they could talk about becoming his publicist, though he says he never mentioned he was looking for one.
Months passed and he heard nothing from Nur until early November. Then one day at 8 o’clock in the morning he received an unexpected call. It was from a model named Maggie, who he had previously worked with, and said Nur said she was in trouble. Wittek says Maggie told him that Nur called to say that she “was beaten up, robbed and raped in Vegas and had no way out there because [the perpetrators] took her wallet and purse.” He says he jumped into action immediately and tried to help her. “If a woman says she was sexually abused, I don’t ask questions. I won’t interrogate her,” he says.
Wittek says he only gave his credit card details so she could book her flight, get an Uber upon landing and hire a locksmith because she told him she’d lost the keys to her apartment. He tells Rolling Stone he doesn’t regret giving her his credit card number.
“It’s an AmEx,” he tells Rolling Stone. “They text me immediately if there’s anything else booked” so he could cancel any unauthorized transaction immediately – which he did, he says, when Nur tried to book another flight on his card.
But not everyone felt sorry for those who claimed Nur took her money. As #SurvivingSophia gained popularity online, many in the comments section supported Nur’s alleged actions – where was the line in an influencer economy? “All I see is a businesswoman,” read one comment. “Influencers deserve to be scammed at every step they take,” read another.
“People just want to watch the world burn. They want to see influencers and get their money ripped off because they feel like influencers are making easy money and cheating on their fans, which is true in some situations,” says Wittek. “She exploited good people. She doesn’t go after shitty influencers who rip people off.”
As Nur became a social media phenomenon, all trace of her online disappeared. Wittek tells Rolling Stone that he invited Nur to his podcast to talk about the hashtag #SurvivingSophia and the story behind it, to which he said she agreed, but later decided it would be best if he didn’t person conducting the interview. It “just wasn’t something I wanted to dig into to give her more platforming,” he tells Rolling Stone. “She can make a video now if she wants to talk about it.”
But, he continued, “Every story usually has two sides. It wasn’t even me against Sophia or the victims against Sophia. It was the internet and their made-up narrative against nothing.”
