Personal life[edit]

In 2013, Wilson created a plus-size t-shirt collection named after her “Fat Mandi” character in The Wedge, which featured images of donuts and cupcakes. In 2017, following a collaboration with Torrid, Wilson launched a plus-size clothing line called Rebel Wilson x Angels.[80]

Wilson and her Bridesmaids co-star, British actor Matt Lucas, lived together in West Hollywood from September 2012 to 2015.[81]

In July 2015, Wilson declared her support for tougher American gun laws after the 2015 Lafayette shooting, stating, “I don’t like getting political, but America, you really need to follow Australia’s example on gun laws. I don’t remember a mass shooting in Australia since they revised the gun laws. It seems like there’s a shooting every week in America. I just want people to be safe, especially the people who do one of my favorite things in the world – going to the movies to have fun.”[83][84][85]

In 2014, Wilson paid $3.75 million for her Sydney waterfront home. The 1900’s detached Victorian home underwent a $900,000 renovation. Wilson also chose an investment from Balmain, a conversion of a historic mansion. The New York-inspired terrace house took three years to complete. Wilson paid $1.88 million from the plan for the two-bedroom condo in 2015.

Wilson is a fan of the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League.[88]

As her 40th birthday approached, Wilson made the decision to freeze her eggs, which spurred her efforts to make healthy life changes. She has polycystic ovary syndrome and suffers from emotional eating due to the pressures of fame.[89]

Wilson came out publicly on Instagram in June 2022, revealing her relationship with Ramona Agruma, while posting on Instagram, “I thought I was looking for a Disney prince… but maybe all this time I really needed a Disney princess.”[ 90] She decided to publicize her relationship with Arguma to forestall an article by Andrew Hornery of the Sydney Morning Herald that would have outed her. While Herald editor Bevan Shields initially defended Hornery in the face of widespread backlash,[93] Hornery later admitted mistakes and the original article was deleted.[94]

weight [edit]

Wilson is a body positivity advocate and a role model for stronger women. “There’s a lot of pressure on women, especially younger women, to conform to the slim body image,” she told the Associated Press. “Not everyone can be like that and no one should be ashamed of their appearance or suffer bullying or other forms of abuse because of their height and build.”[67]

Throughout her career, Wilson has been known for her plus-size physique and often starred in her acting work with characters such as “Fat Amy.” In a 2013 interview with Hunger Magazine, Wilson stated, “As long as I look like this, I’ll be making big jokes. All comedians have to use their physicality, so I use my height.”[95] Wilson told her the agency signed her almost on the spot because they didn’t have anyone like her on their books.[96]

Feeling lucky to have her body type, Wilson explained that people in the industry would tell her not to lose weight. “For me, it’s about being comfortable in your own skin. I never want to be too unhealthy because that’s bad. You just want to be comfortable with who you are, no matter your size,” she said.[ 96] In 2016, Wilson said that she felt bigger girls do better in comedy because they were easier to laugh at, and used this to her advantage.[97]

In July 2011, Wilson became the spokesperson for weight loss and nutrition company Jenny Craig in Australia. In January 2012, Wilson told The Daily Telegraph that she had lost 20 pounds since signing up for the program.[100] In February 2013, she confirmed that she had ended her arrangement with Jenny Craig the previous year.[101]

Wilson claimed that Pitch Perfect’s producers refused to let her lose any more weight during filming because her contract said she had to stay the same height. She said that once her film commitments were over, she would start her diet again to reach her goal weight of 80 kilograms (180 lb).

In her 2020 “health year,” Wilson made it her goal to lose 60 pounds by November 2020. Wilson stated that she was always confident about the way she looked, but now feels “super confident.” [102]

Public profile[edit]

Controversial biography[ edit ]

In May 2015, Australian magazine Woman’s Day ran a story alleging that Wilson had misled about her birth name, age and upbringing. Wilson had previously said in interviews that she was raised by dog-raising “Bogan” parents in the Sydney ghetto, spent a year in Zimbabwe, climbed into a cage with a leopard, got into a shootout and then was knocked out a severe one Strain of malaria from a mosquito in Mozambique, where, from her ICU bed, she fantasized about winning an Oscar and rapping her acceptance speech.[104] Her age was also incorrectly given as 29 (when it was actually 35), which she would later admit she preferred not to correct.[17] Woman’s Day questioned all of this, claiming that Wilson, on the contrary, had a “very normal upper-middle-class upbringing” and “brought an air of ‘fantasy’ to the life she led before she became a household name”. .[103] The story has been picked up by several other publications, including The Sydney Morning Herald, People magazine,[105] the Chicago Tribune[106] and the Huffington Post[107]. Most importantly, Wilson’s true date of birth has been confirmed by business records filed with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission and obtained by The Sydney Morning Herald.[108]

Litigation[ edit ]

On May 16, 2016, Wilson said print and online articles in Woman’s Day, the Australian Women’s Weekly, NW and OK! Magazines made her a serial liar. According to a writ of libel filed with Victorian Supreme Court, Wilson said her reputation and credit suffered and she was humiliated and embarrassed. She also sued for special damages, alleging she missed roles and others were fired because of the articles.[109] Wilson was represented by Matthew Collins QC. On June 15, 2017, a six-member jury ruled in favor of Wilson, finding that publisher Bauer Media Group had in fact misrepresented the actress as a serial liar and that publication of the articles had likely harmed her career.

On September 13, 2017, Wilson was awarded A$4,500,000 in damages. Wilson’s attorney Richard Leder said: “Today’s verdict is a significant record – it’s about four times the highest previous verdict in a defamation case in Australia.” In June 2017, Wilson tweeted: “All the dollars I receive go to charity, Grants or are invested in the Australian film industry to create jobs.”[111][112]

Bauer Media appealed the amount of the damages.[113] On June 14, 2018, Bauer Media won its appeal and the damages were reduced to $600,000, meaning it had to pay back A$4.1 million and A$60,000 in interest. It also had to cover 80% of what Bauer spent on his appeal.[114][115] Wilson announced her intention to appeal the decision[116] and appealed to the High Court on 11 July 2018.[117] The High Court denied the application on November 16, 2018.[118][119]

‘I found my Disney princess!’ Rebel Wilson comes out as gay at 42 after searching for ‘prince’

Rebel Wilson came out as gay at the age of 42 while introducing her new girlfriend to the world on Thursday.

The Pitch Perfect star shared the news of her new relationship on Instagram, posting a sweet snap of herself posing with her friend, designer Romana Agruma, with both women grinning from ear to ear.

In her caption, Wilson shared her excitement at her new relationship, joking that she had “searched for a Disney prince” for years only to find out what she “really needed was a Disney princess.”

“I thought I was looking for a Disney prince… but maybe I really needed a Disney princess all the time,” she wrote, adding heart and rainbow emojis and the hashtag “#loveislove.”

Wilson, who recently flaunted her trimmed, toned figure after shedding more than 75 pounds, showed off her winning smile in the sweet photo, which shows her putting her hand on Ramona’s arm while her friend snapped the selfie.

The Pitch Perfect star capped her cute caption with rainbow and heart emoji and added the hashtag #loveislove

Following her announcement, a friend of the actress told People, “Rebel is in an amazing place and I’ve never seen her happier.”

Though Thursday marked Wilson and Agruma’s official debut as a couple, the pair have actually been spotted together several times over the past few months — even making a joint appearance on the red carpet at Vanity Fair’s Oscars party in March.

The duo happily posed for the cameras together, with both women putting on an incredibly glamorous show in sparkling gowns, with Wilson opting for a shimmering silver number while Agruma shone in sparkling blue.

They were also spotted together on Super Bowl Sunday in February, and Agruma subsequently joined Wilson on her birthday trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in early March.

The duo then enjoyed another getaway in April, this time to Park City, Utah, where they were spotted at another red carpet event before hitting the slopes.

Aside from her coming out post, Wilson hasn’t shared any other details about her friend, who is an LA-based fashion designer and owner of sustainable fashion brand Lemon Ve Limon.

The actress revealed last month that she was dating someone, despite keeping their identity a secret, and told People that she had been set up with her partner – believed to be Agruma – “through a friend” before spending weeks getting to know each other each other’ on the phone.

“We talked on the phone for weeks before we met,” Wilson revealed at the time. “And that was a really good way to get to know each other. In that sense, it was a bit dated – very romantic.

She also shared how “the process of finding more self-esteem” “raised” her standards in terms of what she was looking for in a partner, and described her romance with her new friend as “equal” and “healthy.” “.

In addition to their under-the-radar public appearances together, Agruma has also been a fixture on Wilson’s Instagram for the past few months, though she’s not been presented as anything other than a friend.

Rebel’s most recent confirmed partner was Jacob Busch of the Anheuser-Busch family of brewers.

She and the heir started dating just before the start of the coronavirus pandemic and they made their red carpet debut in Monaco, but the relationship only lasted four months, ending around February 2021.

Earlier this year, the comics star was rumored to be dating Australian tennis player Matt Reid, although that relationship has never been confirmed.

Back in November, Rebel told People she had a “hot girl summer” after the Megan Thee Stallion song, adding that she’s “currently single and looking for the right person.”

“Every relationship teaches you everything about yourself and what you’re looking for,” she said in a little foreboding. “I haven’t quite found my match yet, but here’s hope.”

In her May cover story for the publication, the actress opened up about not delving too deeply into romance in her first few decades.

“It’s no exaggeration to say that nobody was really interested in dating me, especially in my 20s,” she said. “I had a hook tooth. I was a catch when people really got to know me, but nobody really cared.

“But in a way that allowed me to not just have this amazing career and pop out of nowhere from Australia and get two degrees and then come to America and destroy it. Would I have been able to do that if I was in a serious relationship? I’m probably supposed to be a late bloomer in my love life anyway,” she said.

That same month, she shared on the U Up podcast that she was “happily in a relationship now” because it was set up by a boyfriend, although she didn’t share any other details.

Late last year, Rebel revealed that her “year of health” was fueled in part because she was “thinking about fertility.”

“I knew I would have a little more time,” she said of her weight-loss efforts in a December 2021 Instagram Live session. “I also froze my eggs because — as all good career women out there should point out — If that interests you, now is a pretty good time.”

“I was thinking about fertility and high quality eggs in the bank, so I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to do that. I’ll get well,'” she continued. “And how I started was [that] I went to a professional place to do a detox.”

After being forced to cut down on her sugar intake and adopting healthier foods, the Cats actress decided to take the plunge and focus on eating better and losing weight, which could also help her fertility journey less to make bumpy.

“The goal has never been to be skinny,” she added, previously explaining that she has a habit of emotionally overeating.

New Confidence: “Every relationship teaches you everything about yourself and what you’re looking for,” she told People, in a little foreboding. ‘Haven’t quite met my counterpart yet, but here’s hope’; seen in Sydney in April

“I got bad news today and didn’t have anyone to share it with…but I think I need to tell someone,” she wrote in a cryptic post that included a somber photo of herself posing at dusk walked along a rocky shore.

“To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel you,” she added, though she didn’t specify what the point was.

“The universe works in mysterious ways and sometimes it all just doesn’t make sense… but I hope there will soon be light shining through all the dark clouds.”

The Jojo Rabbit actress has previously revealed that she has polycystic ovary syndrome, which can lead to weight gain and is linked to fertility issues.
