Les Stroud was born on October 20, 1961 in Mimico, a western borough of Toronto. He attended Mimico High School and after graduating enrolled at Fanshawe College of London. He entered the Music Industry Arts Program to pursue his passion for music. After graduating, he worked for MuchMusic, a Toronto-based video channel, for several years.
He also worked with a band called “New Regime” as a songwriter and as a garbage collector in Toronto. He got the inspiration to change his career after taking a Temagami canoe trip.
