Sarah Harding dumps fiancé Tom Crane ‘once and for all’ after completing rehab stint

Girls alone: Sarah Harding is leaving her fiancé Tom Crane ‘once and for all’ after ending her stint in rehab

She returned to the UK this week after spending more than a month at a rehabilitation center abroad.

And according to reports today, Sarah Harding’s first task was to end her on/off relationship with fiancé Tom Crane “once and for good”.

The Girls Aloud star, 30, returned to London with a whole new attitude after seeking treatment for depression and alcohol addiction in October.

No turning back: Sarah Harding reportedly returned to London from rehab to end things with Tom Crane ‘once and for all’

But the Sunday Mirror reports that Miss Harding is now “full of energy and sparkle”, according to friends of the singer.

A source told the newspaper that Sarah has “realized that she needs to go forward, not backward.”

“She met with Tom and said she had come to the conclusion that things were just never going to work out.

“Sarah wanted to come back and start fresh with no pressure or big decisions on her shoulders.

“Tom was disappointed but agreed it was probably for the best that they split.”

Troubled: Harding, last seen in public at London Fashion Week in September, returned to the UK “with a whole new attitude”.

Additionally, the anticipated Girls Alour reunion tour will be postponed for another year following Harding’s health issues, Mail On Sunday’s Katie Nicholl reported today.

“I’m glad we’re coming back, but it won’t be for another year,” Nicola Roberts said at InStyle magazine’s ten-year anniversary party last week.

Last month, a spokesman for Harding confirmed she had sought treatment after reportedly “hitting rock bottom”.

The spokesman said at the time: “Sarah Harding has entered a treatment center for depression and alcohol addiction.

“There will be no further comment on this matter.”

Recovery: Harding went to a foreign facility last month to be treated for alcohol addiction and depression

Her September split from DJ Crane, 31, was originally blamed for her downward spiral.

But now it’s been claimed that the pair, previously known for partying each other hard, have struggled to live the “quiet life” together.

“Sarah and Tom had a relationship that was built on traveling, drinking and drinking,” reports the Mirror.

Sarah was last seen in public at London Fashion Week in September, modeling for Look Magazine’s Westfield show.

She seemed to be coping well with the breakup, showcasing a sleek yet quirky new red hairdo as she confidently walked down the runway.

Since then, Harding has only appeared in one picture posted to Twitter by her Girls Aloud bandmates during a girls’ night out.

Postponed: The anticipated Girls Alour reunion tour is being pushed back another year following Harding’s health issues

Harding and Crane announced they ended their engagement in early September, nine months after he proposed to her.

Just before their split, it was believed Harding was making one last trip to Ibiza to try and salvage the relationship.

Sarah and Crane began dating in June 2007, shortly after she split from tabloid journalist Joe Mott.

And despite a tumultuous relationship that saw them split multiple times, including a week-long split in June 2008, Crane popped the question on New Year’s Eve last year while on vacation in the Maldives.

Sarah earned a reputation as the “Caner of the Band” after repeatedly drunkenly drunkenly kicking out of clubs in the early hours while Nicola Roberts focused on her fashion career and Cheryl Cole shone on The X Factor.

The group achieved twenty consecutive top ten singles in the UK (including four number one singles), six albums that were certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), two of which went to number one in the UK, and a total of five BRIT Award nominations. In 2009, Girls Aloud won Best Single with their song “The Promise.”

During the group’s hiatus, Harding took up acting, appearing in Bad Day, the BBC TV film Freefall, Run for Your Wife and St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold. Harding contributed three solo songs to the St. Trinian’s 2 soundtrack. She also modeled for Ultimo lingerie. She reunited with Girls Aloud in late 2012 to celebrate their tenth anniversary. In early 2013, they announced their split. In 2015, Harding made a brief appearance on the soap opera Coronation Street and released her first extended game disc, Threads. Early life[edit]

Harding was born Sarah Nicole Hardman on November 17, 1981 in Ascot, Berkshire.[2][3][4][5] She attended St. Cuthbert’s Primary School in Egham until 1993.[6] She grew up with two half brothers and moved to Stockport when she was 14 after her parents separated. Harding’s father had begun dating a younger woman, so she disowned her father and changed her last name to Harding. She attended Hazel Grove High School from 1993 to 1998 and later attended Stockport College, where she majored in hair and beauty. She then worked as part of the promotions team for two nightclubs at Grand Central Leisure Park in Stockport, as a waitress at Pizza Hut, as a delivery truck driver, debt collector and as a BT telephone operator. She also toured North West England, performing in pubs, social clubs and caravan parks to support herself. In 2002 she was recording dance tracks when she decided to audition for UK talent scouting shows. She auditioned for Fame Academy and Popstars: The Rivals.[9] In the latter, she rose to fame after dropping out of Fame Academy after being inducted into the first round of pop stars. Harding also entered FHM’s High Street Honeys 2002, the magazine’s national beauty pageant. Her pictures appeared in the Top 100, but Harding pulled out after she found success with Popstars.

Career [edit]

In 2002, Harding auditioned for the reality TV show Popstars: The Rivals. The programme, the second UK series of the international Popstars franchise, saw the formation of two rival groups – a boy band and a five member girl group, who would then compete for Christmas 2002 spot on the UK Singles Chart. Several thousand applicants took part in auditions across the UK in hopes of being selected. Ten girls and ten boys were selected as finalists by judges Pete Waterman, Louis Walsh and Geri Halliwell. These finalists then took the stage and participated in weekly Saturday night live performances (alternating girls and boys weekly). Each week, the contestant with the fewest telephone votes was eliminated until the final lineups of the groups were determined. Harding joined Nadine Coyle, Cheryl Tweedy, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh to form the new girl group Girls Aloud, formed by the show through a November 30, 2002 public vote.

The group’s debut single “Sound of the Underground” reached number one in the UK Singles Chart and became Christmas number one in 2002. Girls Aloud hold the record for the shortest time between inception and reaching number one.[13] The group released their debut album Sound of the Underground in May 2003,[14] which debuted at number two on the charts and was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) later that year. Their singles “I’ll Stand by You”, “Walk This Way” and “The Promise” reached number one on the charts. Two of her albums have topped the UK Albums Chart: her greatest hits album The Sound of Girls Aloud and 2008’s Out of Control, both of which debuted at number one and have sold over a million copies . [fifteen] They also achieved seven certified albums and were nominated for five Brit Awards, winning best single for “The Promise” in 2009.[16]

The group’s musical style was pop, but throughout their career they experimented with electropop and dance-pop. Girls Aloud’s collaboration with Brian Higgins and his songwriting and production team Xenomania earned the group critical acclaim[17] for an innovative approach to mainstream pop music. The group became one of the few UK reality TV acts to achieve sustained success, amassing a fortune of £30million by May 2010. Guinness World Records lists them as the “Most Successful Reality TV Group” in the 2007 edition. They also hold the record for “Most consecutive top ten entries in the UK by a female group” in the 2008 edition, and are again recognized for “Most Successful Reality TV Group” in the 2011 edition. The group was also named the UK’s best selling girl group of the 21st century, with over 4.3 million singles sold and 4 million albums sold in the UK alone.

Later that year, Harding returned to the St. Trinian’s franchise with a starring role in St. Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold. Despite her age, Harding portrayed the teenage rebel Roxy, a new student at St. Trinian’s School. The film received overwhelmingly negative reviews and was rated 10% “Lazy” on Rotten Tomatoes.[27] Harding worked with Girls Aloud producers Xenomania to record three solo tracks for the film’s soundtrack – “Too Bad”, “Make It Easy” and a cover of David Bowie’s “Boys Keep Swinging”.[28]

Harding reiterated her plans to release a solo album in 2013, saying that she was “writing and experimenting with different sounds in the studio”. In a 2014 interview, she said, “I’m doing all kinds of stuff right now […] A lot of it is music, music, music.”[37] In July 2015, her first solo release, Threads, was released. announced, it was released on August 7.[38][39]

She made a guest appearance on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street as Joni Preston, wife of Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill). The character made a few appearances in July and August 2015 when her marriage to Robert fell apart when he began an affair with his ex-wife, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).[40]

Harding competed on the BBC’s Saturday night gymnastics show Tumble in 2014, where she finished third. She also took part in Season 10 of BBC’s Celebrity MasterChef in 2015.[42] She took part in the third season of The Jump on Channel 4 in early 2016 and retired on February 26 (week 5) after tearing ligaments in her knee during a training session.[43] In autumn 2016, Harding appeared alongside Andy Moss on a UK tour of Ghost: The Musical. However, she was replaced by Carolyn Maitland midway through the tour after she withdrew to The Jump due to subsequent pain from her injury. In August 2017, Harding won the twentieth season of Celebrity Big Brother.[45]

On March 24, 2021, Harding released her final single, “Wear It Like a Crown,” which she recorded ten years earlier. However, she had found it and decided to release it with the profit benefiting her chosen charity. The song went straight to number 1 on the iTunes charts that same day.[46] Although the single did not chart on the UK Official Singles Top 100, it debuted and peaked at number 33 on the UK Official Singles Sales Chart Top 100 on 2 April 2021.

Personal life[edit]

Harding was in an uninterrupted relationship with Calum Best from 2005 to 2006.[48] They remained friends until her death.[49]

Harding was engaged to DJ Tom Crane in 2011.[50] She was also in a two-year relationship with DJ Mark Foster from late 2012 to late 2014.[51]

In October 2011, Harding entered a rehabilitation center in South Africa citing alcohol addiction and depression. She hasn’t given up alcohol consumption entirely, but has “restricted it”.[53] On April 16, 2013, Harding was banned from driving for six months and fined £605 after police officers caught her talking on her mobile phone while driving through central London. Harding had nine penalty points on her driver’s license for speeding prior to the incident.

Harding wrote a memoir, Hear Me Out, published in 2021, documenting her life and career and her final diagnosis.

Sickness and death[edit]

On August 26, 2020, Harding announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to “other parts” of her body.[57] In October 2020 it was reported that she was living with her mother in Manchester while undergoing treatment.[58] In March 2021, she stated that the disease was incurable and she did not expect “to see another Christmas”.[59][60]

Harding died on the morning of September 5, 2021 at the age of 39 from complications of breast cancer.[61] Among those paying tribute were her former Girls Aloud bandmates: Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts said they were “absolutely devastated”; Kimberley Walsh added that her “heart was broken”; and Cheryl stated that Harding would be “in [their] hearts forever”. A number of celebrities took to their social media and also paid tribute to Harding.[65][66][67][68] Proceeds from Harding’s final single, “Wear It Like a Crown,” were donated to the Christie NHS Foundation Trust, which manages Christie Hospital, to fund research by the cancer treatment center caring for Harding before her death.
