Julio Urias is a Mexican prolific baseball pitcher who plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is dating Daisy Perez.

On May 25, 2013, Julio made his professional debut pitching for the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League. He was the youngest pitcher in the league, shutting out six batters in three innings.

Who is Daisy Perez? Julio Uria’s wife or girlfriend

Julio Urias is dating Daisy Perez right now and he seems very happy with her. It doesn’t say if he’s married to her or how long they’ve been together.

Daisy needs to be a loving and caring partner to take care of him. She might even be at the baseball game to cheer Julio on and watch him play.

Perez seems happy to have found Julio as her boyfriend and there are no rumors of a breakup as they seem happy together.

The pitcher hasn’t said much about his partner yet because he prefers to keep personal information private rather than revealing it publicly.

Julio Urias has many tattoos

A baseball player named Julio Uras and a Puebla tattoo artist named Andrés Ortega met by chance in Phoenix, Arizona.

Since then, Julio and Andrés have remained close friends. He is responsible for getting the tattoos on his body that tell the story of his life, from the operating rooms to his performances in King of Sports.

Andrés says that Julio already has eight tattoos. Julio told Andrés that every tattoo means something and reminds him of something. One of these tattoos is a devotion to San Juditas, taught to him by Julio’s mother.

Julio signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Dodgers for 2021. This avoided having to go to arbitration. He started 20+ games in a season for the first time in his career, and it was statistically one of his best years.

The pitcher became the first National League pitcher to win 20 games since Max Scherzer in 2016. He won the most major league games in 2021 and is only the fourth pitcher from Mexico to do so.

Julio defeated the San Francisco Giants in game two of the 2021 NLDS. He gave up just one run on three hits over five innings and knocked out five batsmen.

Tattoos on Julio Urias: images and what they mean

Julio Urias has many tattoos and each one has its own meaning. Julio’s knuckles are colored with the year he was born. The pitcher was born on August 12, 1996 in Culiacan, Sinaloa. In 2022 he will be 26 years old.

Urias has a tattoo of the state of Sinaloa on his hand and a paper airplane in Culiacan. That means the Dodgers made him when he was 16 years old.

Urias has a Nopales tattoo because he was raised by my grandparents. He got money from his uncle to help him with errands.

On his wrist, the athlete wears a bracelet with a crucifix and a cross, and he considers himself a very religious person.

Julio has a tattoo of León and the words “Never give up”. He got it when his surgery in Phoenix was scary. He has a tattoo of Saint Judas Thaddeus, and his mother used to tell him that Saint Jude’s stick is used to bat bat.

Julio has a clock tattoo with the date and time of his first pitch, which was May 25, 2013. He has a tattoo on his knuckles that shows how much he loves his family.

The pitcher ends up with a tattoo of the number 7, which he’s had since he was a kid in Culiacan and started playing baseball.

Dodgers’ Urias to have cosmetic eye surgery

Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias will be sidelined for a month after undergoing plastic surgery on his left eye, according to MLB.com.

MLB.com prospect #8 will undergo the procedure – periorbital benign mass removal – on May 28th. He is expected to resume baseball activities in June and be back in the game before July.

“He deserves this level of support and we’re thrilled to give it to him,” Gabe Kapler, director of player development, told MLB.com.

Urias previously had three surgeries on his left eye to treat a benign mass. Urias told the L.A. Times this spring that you can see through the eye, though it always appears nearly closed.

“That’s how God works,” Urias told the Times. “He gave me a bad left eye but a good left arm.”

The 18-year-old has emerged as one of baseball’s brightest prospects, becoming the youngest player to dominate the Double-A Texas League this year. In seven starts with Tulsa, Urias is 1-2 with a 3.00 ERA. He’s hit 46 batters and walked just nine over 36 innings.

Urias throws a fastball that speeds up to 160 km/h and gets rave reviews for his transition and breaking ball.

“He would have gotten out of major league clubs tonight, he was that good,” Tulsa manager Razor Shines said after Urias hit a career-high 10 strikeouts on April 27.

“He has a much older demeanor than he was 18 years old. This boy is like an eternity in the way he handles things.”

The 6-foot-2 pitcher’s last start with the Drillers came on May 12, when he conceded three earned runs over 3 1/3 innings against Springfield. The left-hander hit seven and tied a career high with four walks in the no-decision.

The move will allow the Dodgers to cap Urias’ innings in 2015. The Mexican hurler threw a career-high 87 2/3 innings with Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga last year.

“Obviously, one of our main concerns – regardless of the procedure – is to protect Julio and limit his workload,” Kapler said. “We look at pitch and innings totals for every pitcher in our organization. Our goal is to take a long-term view of Julio’s development, with a laser-sharp focus on long-term health.

baseball player

Julio César Urías Acosta (born August 12, 1996) is a Mexican baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Dodgers signed him in 2012 and he made his MLB debut in 2016.

Early life[edit]

Urías is the son of Carlos Urías and Juana Isabel Acosta.[1] He played with the Mexico national youth team in his early youth.[2][3] At age 14, Urías met Los Angeles Dodgers scout Mike Brito, who had first scouted Fernando Valenzuela in the late 1970s. In June 2012, the Dodgers spotted 15-year-old Urías in an Oaxaca store window on the same scouting trip to Mexico where they signed Yasiel Puig. The Dodgers signed him on August 12, his 16th birthday. The Dodgers paid a $450,000 signing fee, most of which went to the Mexican League’s Diablos Rojos del México.

Minor leagues[edit]

Urías made his professional debut on May 25, 2013 for the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League as the youngest player in the league, hitting six batters over three shutout innings. He made 18 starts overall and finished the season 2-0 with a 2.48 ERA while recording 67 strikeouts in 54.1 innings. He spent 2014 with the California League’s Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. In 25 appearances (20 of which were starts), he was 2-2 with a 2.36 ERA. He knocked out 109 batters while walking just 37.

Urías was selected to play for the world team at the 2014 All-Star Futures game and was voted the 2014 Dodgers Organization’s “Minor League Pitcher of the Year”. He received an invite to the team’s 2015 Major League Spring Training Camp.[14] After serving in two games for a total of two innings and a 4.50 ERA, he became the first to be dropped from the roster and was traded to the team’s minor league camp on March 14, 2015.

Urías was ranked the top left-handed pitching prospect in all of baseball for the 2015 season by MLBpipeline.com. MLB.com ranked him the 8th best prospect in baseball, and Baseball America named him the 10th prospect in 2015. The Dodgers assigned him to the Texas League’s AA Tulsa Drillers to start the 2015 season. He was 3-4 with a 2.77 ERA in 13 starts for Tulsa.

Urias was promoted to the AAA Oklahoma City Dodgers on August 31, 2015. He struggled in his first AAA action, allowing nine runs in 4 + 1⁄3 innings over two starts. He also allowed six runs, including a grand slam homer, in just one inning in his one Pacific Coast League playoff start. He was invited back to attend Dodgers Spring Training. He was assigned AAA to start the season where he was 4-1 with a 1.10 ERA in seven starts. He also had a 27-innings scoreless streak in May for Oklahoma City.

Big leagues[edit]

Los Angeles Dodgers[edit]

2016: Rookie season [ edit ]

Urías was promoted to the Los Angeles Dodgers to make his major league debut on May 27, 2016 against the New York Mets. At 19, he was the youngest starting pitcher to debut with the majors since Félix Hernández in the 2005 season and the second youngest Dodgers starting pitcher to debut since 18-year-old Rex Barney in the 1943 season. (Joe Moeller is the youngest LA Dodger starting pitcher at 19 years and 55 days). Urias struggled in his debut, lasting just 2+2⁄3 innings while conceding five hits, three runs and four walks. He knocked out three, including the first batter he faced, Curtis Granderson. He was re-elected to AAA after the game. He was brought back to the active squad three days later after starter Alex Wood was placed on the disabled list. Urías made his second start on June 2 against the Chicago Cubs. In 5 innings pitched, he gave up 6 runs (5 earned), including 3 home runs. He allowed 8 hits and hit 4.[30][31] He got his first major league win against the Milwaukee Brewers on June 28, 2016, when he allowed two runs with two hits in six innings. He was the first teenage Dodger pitcher to throw 100 pitches in a game since Joe Moeller in 1962. He pitched in 18 games for the Dodgers, 15 of them starts, and was 5-2 with a 3.39 ERA, 84 strikeouts and 31 walks. He led the major leagues in pickoffs by six.

Urías showed two innings of relief in game five of the 2016 National League Division Series to take the win. At 20 years and 62 days, he became the Dodgers’ youngest pitcher to ever pitch in the postseason. He was two weeks younger than Don Drysdale in game four of the 1956 World Series. He was also the fourth youngest pitcher in MLB postseason history, behind Ken Brett (1967 World Series), Bert Blyleven (1970 ALCS), and Don Gullett (1970 NLCS and 1970 World Series). He became the youngest pitcher to ever start a postseason game when he started game four of the 2016 National League Championship Series. He allowed four runs in just 3+2⁄3 innings of the game.

2017 [edit]

The Dodgers opted to keep Urías in extended spring practice rather than have him on the opening day roster to start 2017 with the goal of capping his innings so he can pitch more later in the season. He returned to the Major League on April 27 beginning the rotation. He made five starts for the Dodgers and was 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA. He was re-elected to the minors on May 21.[39] In June, while fielding for Triple-A Oklahoma City, Urías tore the anterior capsule in his left shoulder, ending his 2017 season and requiring surgery.

2018 [edit]

Urías spent most of the 2018 season recovering from his injury and only started rehab with the minors on July 30. He made three appearances for the Dodgers during the regular season and pitched four scoreless innings in September. Despite this, he was named to the Dodgers roster for the 2018 NLCS and 2018 World Series.[41] He allowed a run in 3+1⁄3 innings against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS and a run in three innings against the Boston Red Sox in the World Series.[33]

2019: Suspension and return to rotation[ edit ]

Urías was due to start 2019 in the bullpen to cut his innings in the early stages, but injuries to Clayton Kershaw and Rich Hill saw him start the season on the rotation. He started four times, including a nine-game strikeout (in six innings), by allowing just one hit against the Brewers on April 18, after which he joined the bullpen. He picked up his first career save on May 6 against the Atlanta Braves.

Urías was placed on paid administrative leave on May 14 as a result of a home battery investigation[46] but was reinstated on May 21.[47] On August 17, Urias was suspended for 20 games.[48]

He appeared in 37 games from eight starts and was 4-3 with a 2.49 ERA and 85 strikeouts. Balls batted against him had the lowest average exit velocity (83.2 miles per hour) of those batted against all major league pitchers. Urías appeared in three of the NLDS’ five games against the Washington Nationals, allowing three runs to score in 3+2⁄3 innings and recording the loss in Game 4.

2020: World Series Championship [ edit ]

Urías agreed to a one-year, $1 million contract with the Dodgers in 2020 to avoid arbitration. In the 2020 season shortened by the pandemic, he became a full-time starter for the Dodgers, going 3-0 in 11 games with a 3.27 ERA. [33] Urías clinched the win in the Dodgers’ first playoff game of the season, the wild card opener Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, and threw three scoreless innings (with five strikeouts) to Walker Buehler’s relief. In the NLDS against the San Diego Padres, he appeared in Game 3 and worked five innings, including an unmerited run, to take the series win. In the NLCS against the Atlanta Braves, he was the winning pitcher in the two games he appeared in. Urías started Game 3 and allowed a three-hit run in five innings and then pitched the final three innings of the series-winning Game 7, which allowed no runners to reach base. Urías then started Game 4 of the 2020 World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays, throwing 4.2 innings and allowing two runs with four hits while hitting nine. In Game 6, Urìas entered in the 7th inning and went 2+1⁄3 innings scoreless to record the save and was on the mound as the Dodgers won their championship.

2021: MLB wins league leaders

Urías agreed to a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Dodgers in 2021 to avoid arbitration. Urías started in more than 20 games in a season for the first time in his career and enjoyed his best season yet. He finished his 2021 campaign, which began in 32 games, and went 185 + 2⁄3 innings with 195 strikeouts, a 2.96 ERA and a league-best 20-3 record. He became the first National League pitcher since Max Scherzer in 2016 to have 20 wins in a season, which was the most in the majors in 2021 and only the fourth 20-win season by a Mexican-born pitcher.

Urías started the second game of the 2021 NLDS against the San Francisco Giants, allowing just a three-hit run in five innings with five strikeouts to earn the win. He also played in the deciding fifth game of the series, starting in the third inning after the Dodgers decided to use two openers. He pitched four innings and allowed a three-hit run as the Dodgers won the series. He next appeared in a backup role in Game 2 of the 2021 NLCS against the Atlanta Braves, where he allowed two runs to score with three hits in just one inning and crushed the lead in a game the Dodgers lost. He then started in Game 4 of the series three days later, where he struggled and allowed five runs on eight hits in five innings to record the loss.

2022 [edit]

Urías, in his second season of salary arbitration, signed a one-year, $8 million deal with the Dodgers for 2022.

Pitching style [ edit ]

Urías’ primary pitch is a fastball with a typical speed of between 90 and 95 mph and a maximum of 97.[64][65][66] He also throws a low-80s changeup, curveball, and slider.[4][65 ] His curveball initially had a mostly horizontal motion similar to a slurve. During the 2016 season, he changed his grip to add vertical movement. He started using the slider in 2015.[4] Urías is also known for his pickoff streak, leading the big leagues in his rookie season with six pickoffs.

Personal life[edit]

Urías underwent three operations on his left eye during his youth to remove a benign mass. As a result, his left eye is almost closed, but he can see through it.[6][69] When asked about his eye condition, Urías, a devout Catholic, said[70]: “Thus God works elective surgery to correct the condition.[71]

In May 2019, Urías was arrested for domestic violence.[72] The LA City Attorney deferred prosecution on the condition that Urias attend a hearing, do not commit violent acts, and personally complete a 52-week domestic violence counseling program.[73]
