Stevo The Madman Talks New Family Series, Fatherhood

Building an empire and sharing the achievements with family is a must for everyone, something Stevo The Madman has accomplished to a large extent in his ever-expanding career so far.

The humble Eastender has been able to leave a legacy alongside his close relatives and has gone from strength to strength since the early days of his Snapchat stories and loyal Spartan fan base! He has now expanded his already huge market by becoming Stevo The DadMan! – Transition to a full camera crew as we explore the busy lives of Stevo and his beloved daughters Leah, Kaci and Erin!

While entertaining everyday family life attracts an ever-growing audience, Stevo has remained versatile with his craft and consistently shows he can push boundaries and create content galore, balancing the busy social media lifestyle with the pressure brings to maintain his own sushi restaurant!

The job has many perks, but being able to put others in great positions and having a smile on their face is where Stevo finds self-fulfillment. He’s also reached a career high by buying a home for his family, something he’s very passionate about!

We caught up with Stevo as he reflects on Season 3 of his Object Film-produced Stevo The DadMan series, fatherhood, success and more!

Let’s start with Series 3 of Stevo The DadMan – In Episode 1 you teach Leah how to DJ! Coming from a musical background with your DJ skills, what was it like filming this episode?

“That was awesome! I’ve gotten to the point in my life let alone my career where I shaped it to make content that makes me happy. This episode was like a dream, your little daughter wants DJ and you turn your home into a nightclub! She loved looking inside from the outside, I would have been very happy with that as a kid, but the next day it was just dad again!”

Is this something Leah can pursue in the future?

“100% I made her a little deal if you show me you practice your DJing – The first hour is a standard and every hour you practice I’ll pay you a small wage! I hope the incentive helps! Practice makes you better, not perfect, but as long as you keep practicing you will only get better. I hope by the time she’s 20 it could be a career if she puts the work into it!”

We also saw you fight toe to toe with sumo sharran – how was that experience and wearing the mawashi?

“Sumo Sharran, she is amazing! She made it easy but at the same time it was hard because as she said in the video she is a 57 year old woman and I am a fine young man! She was strong, agile and fun! I think she has a career in entertainment, an incredible personality. It was tough being in the ring, the next thing I get whirled about, it was a crazy experience!”

What was your craziest and most entertaining part of filming Series 3?

“I think I’m getting an owl! When I was in school and younger, the owl came to school for pictures. My mother wasn’t on it, she said go to the forest if you want a picture with an owl! Because of the content, now I just want to do things I didn’t get to do. We also pranked Leah! There’s literally three seconds of this episode where I’ll either get canceled or Dads will understand! I’m also teaching Leah to drive which has been stressful! I just have fun with my girls, film it and people can relate to it. When you have a child, you can relate no matter what background you come from!”

How did you find the jump from Snapchat and phone access to now shooting Stevo The DadMan with a camera crew? Did you have to adjust to this?

“It’s different because I’m used to having my Snapchat from my perspective, so taking my perspective to a broader environment was a challenge. Some things work some don’t as I lead a lot of my jokes with my facials when Emma is speaking. It was different, but I like solving problems. It is well received. It’s good to see what people like and don’t like. Interaction is key, listen to what your people are saying as they are probably picking it up more than you!”

At what point in your career did you start to feel recognized and see the impact you were making on social media?

“I’ll be honest with you, sometimes it still doesn’t feel like it’s taken off. Not where my mind sees it! I think once you start making some money. To be fair, I never think I’ve made it or that I’m safe. Someone always comes, hungry, fresh! That’s why I step on the gas and leave anyway, because you’re never safe in this internet world.

“We’re not starting to build unions and some security, nobody’s safe because tomorrow you can be fired! It’s about getting your capital from these brands that want to pay the money. Then it’s time to invest and not have to sell your soul! How much of yourself are you preparing to give? No one can say 100% have lived up to our moral standards, so it’s all about finding the balance. As long as you’re doing the things you love, have fun and stay consistent, you can stay in the game.”

We’ve seen you go from Snapchat to your ever-growing Spartan fan base and celebrities reaching out to you – who praised you, what shocked you the most?

“There were loads of wows! Recently Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things Erin posted. Vybz Kartel posted Erin! This doesn’t get me down now, but when you tell your Spartans you’re trying to get a down payment on a house and then go into your DMs and your backers offer you money to help, that’s wow me! These people will go crazy for me and that’s the wow for me.

“When your people are willing to drive for you, those are the wow moments I get from this trip. The purpose I fulfill by making others happy for a second, a minute. Just like trends, celebs trying to stay relevant will always pick up on the trends. I’m grateful for that, but I won’t get gassed because you have to stay in your lane! The internet world is so fast that you can be thrown off track for a week and things can go down the drain. You can never rest!”

What are your top 3 career highlights so far?

“The house eventually becomes a career highlight because I showed it to my people. If you’ve seen the blueprint and I’ve shown it to everyone, people have invested in it, so this can be considered a career highlight. I had so many wow moments.

“I hosted the Superbowl opening night for BBC Sport, I commentated on a boxing match for Sky Sports. I went to Kentucky to see a documentary about KFC! I interviewed Usain Bolt, you know an icon! A stand out moment in all nine years is being able to help people and when people don’t have someone they hit like that as a last resort and I reply back and it literally saves people. That there is a next level of self-realization. I’ve become very selfish for those moments. You only get those moments by helping selflessly, so I’m not mad that I’m being selfish!”

What is it like to be a girl dad? have you ever wanted a boy How do you form such a special bond with Leah, Kacey and Erin?

“I think every man wants a boy, but having three girls changes you. Women, they are great! But they are also beautiful, intelligent and the way they solve problems and get things done is interesting. I love being the only man in the house, I’m taken care of, it’s all good. Leah is doing beauty now, it’s fun in my house. It’s stressful too! I know how boys are. I see the drifters in the comments!”

Do you want your daughters to pursue your career, or is there no limit?

“The sky’s the limit. I can only guide you, and by guiding you, I would steer you away from the internet. Leah goes to college, works, shoots with me. She puts in the work and shows a work ethic! So much for me pay for everything for my kids, i also let them know if you want to keep these kinds of things you have to go out and work and have expensive taste!

“I taught them about taxes, VAT and mortgages. I believe my girls are in a good environment to be successful. I’m trying my best to lay the groundwork. I’m at a stage where the first five years was just hard work and persistence and that’s what you have to do. Now it’s a matter of finding out which track it is? Is it the podcast? Is it the show? will you write more Is it still music because I used to DJ?”

We’ve seen you support your local East End team West Ham – how does it feel being a banger these days?

“Great! It feels good. I feel like we have a chance against every team now. If we set ourselves up properly and listen to our manager, the worlds are our oyster! I’m not sure how much I do I want to get into the Champions League this season because then I have to spend a lot of money, we’re making progress but I don’t want us to pay the players £300,000 and then we’ll pay that for the next 10 years, but I am a happy, happy hammer!”

What would you describe as a success for West Ham at the end of the season?

“A League or FA Cup! We beat United and City, two of the greatest teams, so anything is possible.”

What advice would you give to young people trying to be successful and breaking doors into the entertainment industry?

“This world of social media is unforgiving. My advice would be, is this really what you want? If that’s what you want, do some research on the field you want to get into. Whether it’s vlogging, skits, podcasts, etc. Make sure you know which side you want to be on, get your plan, and then attack. Be consistent and above all nice! When you’re super hot, be the most humble, but believe in your juice at the same time! Whatever you love in real life, grab a camera and talk about it. The passion you show in it, the audience will be able to understand. The energies will match! Listen to your audience. Stay focused!”

Musicians get writer’s block, do you sometimes struggle with creating content or is it a spontaneous thing for yourself?

“I have so many ideas that little scripts come out when I fart! I’m lucky that I’m a deep thinker. My problem has become my greatest asset. I made a conscious decision when everyone was making relatable moments in sketches, I made a conscious decision to find a sketch in my own life. I would see a moment and create a sketch around the moment. Since my content is real-time, I might see a post, someone would comment on it funny and it becomes my next joke. Interacting with people has helped me over the last few years.

“I listened and absorbed what they said. I don’t get writer’s block because my content isn’t being written, it’s day by day. I have so many ideas, they’re not all great and they’re not all going to be great, but they’re there. I used to do 40 minute short stories and get 3-4 minutes of content that you can then move to another platform. Maybe two of these videos will go viral! I probably couldn’t post for two years and still have two years of content! I’m like Chip, I don’t run out of bars!”

Who are your current three go-to artists to listen to?

“Wow. Brent Faiyaz I think he could sing the alphabet and I might like it. I love the resurrection of Jazmine Sullivan, she does her thing. I love the latest M1llionz mixtape. Unknown T, the bags, the man sees. As for the scene, the world really gives them credit for the talent it takes to fit in those pockets that drill gives you. I spoke to Chase & Status about drill, it let me know that what they say is a ridiculous art form in the time drill production gives you. I hope they can take drill to another space! Music is in sane space right now.”

What does the future hold for Stevo The Madman?

“There’s more Stevo the DadMan! More of this for me. More investing, I have the podcast, more writing. I will continue to enjoy the moments that are offered to me and my family. I’m also doing a project with the African and Caribbean Leukemia Trust. This is a charity that has helped me and my family since my brother died. We helped each other. I made a conscious decision earlier this year, what can I do without money? I contacted them immediately and want to do more. I’ve also donated blood to the Anthony Nolan Trust and got some of my friends involved in raising awareness. I used to be shy and nervous, but now I talk to the kids. I can have those conversations with my chest now!”

2021 has been a great year for Stevo The Madman! Keep an eye out for the third season of his popular family series, as well as his trusted charity, the African and Caribbean Leukemia Trust.
