How Benji and Zoe Marshall’s marriage is stronger than ever after years of hurdles
While many may know Benji Marshall from his NRL days and Zoe Marshall from her long career as a podcast host and writer, their true strengths seem to come from each other. The couple, who celebrated nine years of marriage this year, have long been open about how much they depend on each other and how they maintain their marriage. From meeting when they were both in a dark place, to struggling with fertility issues, to running the house together — albeit with separate beds — this is what their life together looks like.

Benji and Zoe only started dating shortly after she got out of a situation of domestic violence and the Celebrity Apprentice star was mourning the loss of his father. “We saved each other,” Zoe has admitted, but the two are also working very hard on their relationship. “We’ve been seeing our therapist together for 12 years because we both knew how valuable it was and we were struggling, we had trauma we needed to heal together, or we wanted to let all the toxic shit in,” she has said said. While their love grew from a broken place, it soon culminated in a lifelong partnership, with the couple wed in 2013.

They married eight months after Benji proposed in Byron Bay while vacationing on Hamilton Island. The lavish wedding took place at the Visionnaire Estate, in the presence of many family and friends, and with a musical performance by a friend of the couple, Stan Walker. They revealed at the time that they were hoping to have children, and Zoe even joked about it. “Anyway, no rush from me — try telling Benji that,” she laughed at the time. “Must be slim for this wedding dress.”
However, Zoe’s road to motherhood was difficult as she struggled with endometriosis. The couple found it difficult to conceive and were about to start IVF treatment when Zoe decided to try an extreme 101 well-being program taught to her by Chinese doctor Dr. Shuquan Liu and within six months she became pregnant. Zoe gave birth to her first son, Benjamin Fox Marshall, known as Fox, in early 2018. The name Benjamin was a reference to Benji’s uncle Benji, who helped raise him in his early years. The name was also special to Zoe as it was one of her mother’s choices when she was born a boy. Fox’s arrival saw the couple having a family of their own.

“Since Benji doesn’t have his father, I lose my mother and then he loses his adoptive father, it feels nice to have a family of my own. That’s our only priority in the whole world. Nothing else matters,” Zoe told Woman’s Day at the time. Unfortunately, while the couple hoped to give Fox a sibling, they suffered a miscarriage the following year. When Zoe finally got pregnant with their daughter, she explained that Benji was nervous that she was sharing the news. “He was terrified that I shared it prematurely, which I totally understand,” Zoe admitted. “We had a loss around this time last year. Zoe Marshall, wife of podcaster and NRL star Beni Marshall, has spoken about the many tears she shed during the “painful” time of her young family’s move to Queensland.
Relief swept through Queensland NRL hubs on Wednesday as families, officials and players were reunited following their release from their 14-day hotel quarantine.

Hundreds of family members were transported to the NRL hubs in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast at staggered intervals on Wednesday, causing a stir in camps.
Despite the relief after being reunited with loved ones, Zoe Marshall has detailed the struggles of relocating a young family to the quarantined bubble.
The Marshalls welcomed Ever to the family in June.
However, after the family moved to Queensland, Zoe explained that she struggled in quarantine without the support of family and friends.
Zoe said she suffered a series of “breakdowns” during the “painful” move and is happy to be out of quarantine to see Benji.
“It’s been the strangest 2 months. Birth, a lockdown, 2 weeks quarantine, 2 weeks another hotel and finally arrived where we will be living for the next few weeks,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Observing our language and being careful with Fox. Making it feel like it’s “normal” to call it a holiday – the way we frame it makes it true, right?
“I’ve had a few breakdowns – some tears. many tears And I feel for my countrymen in Nsw and Vic who are being bombarded with hopeless tidings day in and day out.
“My father and Benji’s uncle met my daughter once. The rest of my family doesn’t. My best friends don’t. It’s weird and I’m ruling it out because it’s wrong and painful.”
Zoe said she barely saw her husband during the move and hadn’t eaten a home-cooked meal in five weeks.

But she also acknowledged she was one of the lucky few in a fortunate position during lockdown as millions remain isolated across New South Wales and Victoria.
“You wouldn’t believe me if I said I hardly saw Benj. We’ve slept in hotel rooms across the street with kids at different times…finally we have a little lounge to squeeze in together.” She added.
“Being blurred from exhaustion by just having a new baby and not a complete upheaval. I miss my home and my people and I know it is awful for you in Nsw and Vic.
“I know I’m freaking lucky to be here with my family to be together for my husband’s job. I’m incredibly grateful. I know it’s not like that for so many.
“So what can I do or say? When everything is such a mess. I think all I can do is send you love. Power. What little I have left of it. i send it to you We need it.”
Despite the difficult conditions, Benji is hoping to win a Premier League with the high-flying Rabbitohs in sensational form and in 3rd place just two points off the top.
NRL players have reunited with families in the bubble
The Marshalls aren’t the only family struggling.
Cronulla prop master Aaron Woods has only spent an hour with his daughter since she was born three weeks ago, so he’s more than ready to bond with Coco Rae.
Few were more excited than the Woods family to be reunited.
Aaron’s wife Sarah gave birth to Coco Rae just six days before she flew into a tough lockdown in Queensland alongside the couple’s two-year-old son Buster.
“I’ve only seen my daughter for about an hour and it’s been three weeks since she was born, so I’m looking forward to that and trying to make a little connection there,” Woods told the Sharks players Wednesday later that afternoon we met again with the family.
“I can’t wait to see my little guy either.”
Woods had stayed in Sydney for the birth of Coco Rae before flying in to join the team’s Brisbane hub.
He has only Facetimed his newborn since then, as his wife struggled in a hotel room with two children for a fortnight.
“She took one for the team, she obviously made it difficult,” Woods said.
“Their (hotel) level was pretty harsh, they didn’t have a microwave or a vacuum cleaner or anything, but we’re lucky that we have some friends outside who could call around and support her and help her.
“She did a tremendous job, I can’t wait to see the kids.
“The two year old has driven her insane and she can’t wait to leave this room.”
The families entering the NRL bubble remain subject to Queensland’s lockdown laws, while players are subject to Tier 4 restrictions.
